Julep August Mystery Box CLASSIC WITH A TWIST Review and Swatches

Ah, the illusive mystery box! I don't have the power to resist you. This month Julep released not one but FIVE different categories of mystery boxes. Each category is based on the different style profiles such as It Girl, Bombshell, Boho Glam, American Beauty, and Classic With A Twist. Each category will only have polishes from that style and there will be no cross overs. Julep Mystery boxes cost $19.95 and contain items worth $60-$200 dollars! Considering the polish alone at Sephora is close to $15 dollars each, these are a steal.

I decided to buy one of each! The third one to arrive is Classic With a Twist. This box was a little bigger than the ones i've gotten so far this month. Am i impressed yet? No not really. The colors are classy, i have to say that. I am usually wear bold and loud colors, however, i do like the soft nude, shimmery petal pink and dark purple. For me to be taken by classic and nude nail colors you must be doing something right. These three together i think would make an amazing manicure. I feel like this box was well put together. A scrub to make my skin feel soft, and nude nails with a bit of shimmer or a dark purple accent nail. Well done Julep. Price wise, this box was worth a little more than the other ones i have received, but i have yet to hit it big this month.

Gayle-
Deep, dark, purple. Perfect on the fall trend. If you have checked out Lancome's fall line you will be head over heals for this color since it matches perfectly with Midnight Roses.

Jennifer-
Soft and creamy nude. I love this color but i have some complaints about application. To achieve the color you see here you will need one to two coats where as with most of the other polished by Julep only one coat is necessary. This color is worth it though. Its the perfect french tip color, perfect simple nude, and perfect as a natural base for other colors.

 Maya-
Shimmery pink pearl. Reminds me of a ballerina color but the website describes it as a soft seashell color. I guess it is the kind of color that can conger up different images to different people. These pictures do this color no justice. It is a beautiful color but the flash brings out the metallic ribbons too much. While this color can be a little bit streaky it still looks beautiful. It is best to apply this in even strokes because uneven strokes and touch ups show up.

Pomegranate Scrub
A soft scented body scrub perfect for dry skin. I love the subtle smell this has. It isn't over powering but made my skin feel soft.

 Complaints-
While finishing up this review i wanted to tally up the worth of this box. The total i got was exactly $60 with one very slight problem. When adding up the total i took the non maven price which is $14 per polish. Assuming you are a maven when purchasing these mystery boxes the worth is much less than advertised. At $11 dollars per polish the real total of this box is $51. Which means all these products are just about %50 off. This is a great discount, but realizing you are still paying 5 dollars per polish and 9 dollars for the scrub, that's a bit pricey. I could go to my local drugstore and get similar scrub. I feel the polish was worth it.
