Lime Crime My Beautiful Rocket

A couple of months back Lime Crime unveiled their newest, brightest, most neon shade of lipstick - Geradium. I, of course had to pick this shade up. After talking with Lime Crime on Instgram i was also convinced that i needed a true orange shade of creamy lipstick - My Beautiful Rocket. Ready for a review of something old and something new?

Lime Crime cosmetics offers a wide range of pigmented and bright products to choose from. Their packaging is whimsical but charming allowing for even the most conservative cosmeholic to have a little secret. These bright purple tubes house lipsticks that range from bold and daring to everyday and conservative. It is pretty obvious i am anything but conservative so i personally find the tubes to be a lot of fun. If you are a fan of the limited edition and fun packaging that MAC offers from time to time then you will probably enjoy this. The tube is sturdy and locks closed with a click.

Lime Crime Geradium

The formula has the familiar MAC vanilla scent. It is not over powering and has no noticeable taste. These lipsticks apply very creamy and can have some slight streaking. They need to be applied about every 4 hours because they can fade. I would suggest wearing over lips filled in with lip liner. I wore just liner that matched My Beautiful Rocket and after only a few hours the liner was very apparent and it was obvious where the lipstick had once been. While touch-ups are needed, i did not find this lipstick drying nor did i find it chalky. The application is a bit thick but you have opaque coverage in only one to two swipes. It does not need to be built up.

Lime Crime has been quite guilty in the past of photoshoping their products to look brighter and more pigmented. I feel this has also been done slightly with this shade (Geradium) While it is a bright pink it is nowhere near as bright or glossy as the image on the site would lead you to believe. These lipsticks have a bit more of a satin finish and in fact mine looks matte when i put it on. While skin color can make a difference in how a shade looks this is a swatch done under very bright lights and this shot has been brightened further. My swatch is in natural light to show you what you should expect on a normal day of wear.

Overall if you are looking for bright colored coral pink or bright true orange packed in a fun and whimsical tube you have come to the right place as these shades will give you statement lips. If you are looking for quality and lasting power i would suggest trying mac.
