Birch Box February 2013 Review

Are you red carpet ready? If you aren't this months Birchbox will bring you one step closer to flawless perfection. From face to nails to hair, this month's Birchbox has a little of everything. And had you been wondering what happened to to reccognizing Valintines day? Birchbox included just a little bit of chocolate.

I am not going to bost and say i loved this box, because i didn't. I wasn't wowed or blown away, however, what i will say is that after having a bit of time to reflect on this box (it is March now after all) I have grown to really enjoy its contents. Had I done this review when I first got my box this post may have been just a tad more negative.

Color Club Nail Polish in Wild Cactus
First off, I quickly became a Color Club fan when I joined Birch Box. I seem to always get samples from them and its the one product I know I will like. The quality it's always on par at least during the polishing part and even though it chips a bit after only a few days I always add a good top coat. This shade is a beautiful green that applys opaque in on coat. I like that it isn't too thick and is on trend with the emerald green shades.
I have zero curls, not one curl. So I was very confused when Birch Box thought it would be amazing to send me this. After emailing them and talking about why this sample was put in my box I have grown to understand that this product is fantastic for frizz. Now if only this little package was resealable. It did help control frizz but did make my roots feel a little greasy. I'd rather have sleek hair than frizzy hair though.

Ghiraelli Squares Milk Chocolate with Caramel-
This was so drugstore, but I did find it delicious. The caramel just oozed out and even though Birch Box did not focus on valentines day this was a nice treat none the less.
In February Birch Box had partnered up with Lancôme to offer some pretty great products both inside and outside the monthly box. While I was hoping for some facial cleanser I was happy to be able to try this. I always trust Lancôme and they rarely disappoint. This base was a great way to start the makeup application runtime and allowed my makeup to really stay put all day. I liked that it wasn't heavy and did not feel greasy.

This scrub made my face really fresh. I used this twice a week for three weeks and I was sad to see it finished. This made my fade feel clean and smooth. It was a great way to exfoliate.

Overall, only in retrospect, was I able to really enjoy the products in this box. If you are interested in Birch Box it is a beauty subscription that offers samples for only 10$ a month that includes shipping. While every month may not be fantastic and you may not always get the box you want you do get the opportunity to try some great products and even get some great deals. Birch Box gives you points for each product you review from your monthly box. Once you reach 100 you are given $10 to spend in the shop. If this all interests you, you can sign up here!

As for what i got this month!:

This months Birchbox was jam packed.

Color club- Custom Color Status Update-
This social media named color is a great choice for the fall season. Even though i personally am not a fan of gray this shade, along with all color club products, is high quality. This gray leans on the purple side so it will give you a very little bit of color. The bottle size is small,, . 25 fl oz but its a decent amount. I would say a+ on the collaboration this month.I have already put in my order for their other color Insta- This.

Band aids- Cynthia Rowley
Designer band aids to cover my boo boo's, yes please! I know these were given out months back but hey, I didn't get one so while this is a product from past boxes for me te brand new and I love it. It's adorable a brand i trust with cute designs. Makes me feel like a kid again.

Twirl by Kate Spade-
Is an amazing sent. It is floral but not over powering. When spraying it on my skin it instantly reminded me of being 15 and wearing gap heavenly except this is more refined. Maybe not a fall scent but a scent i am sure you will fall in love with if you like scents on the soft side.

Dr Jarts+ Beauty Balm
BB creams are exploding! This product is a Multi-Action skincare plus makeup balm and it is an SPF. While this shade is a tad too ligh for me I do like the coverage and application and it's a size that allows me to really get a feel for this product. I am just thankful it isn't a foil packet. Apply to your face and place your powder over it! Non greasy. If you don't already have a BB cream this one is pretty good quality.

Twist Band-
Is it sad that I had to google how to use this thing? Once I realized how this works I think it's pretty nifty. A hair tie that wont dent your hair. This was soft and didn't pull any of my hair out when putting it on or taking it off. I also know this is another repeat from past boxes and also an item I didn't get so I personally can't complain

Benefit- Refined Finish and Foamingly Clean-
At first site the packaging on these was adorable. Opening up the packaging to read about the product was also a nice touch, however, I wish these were larger. When viewing these on the website i was under the impression they were slightly bigger and multi-use. They are not so once you open it that's it. I haven't used them yet since I didn't want to waste these one use packets so quick so come back for an update in the next few days.

Also included in this box was a free song download and a gift card for 25 off a purchase of 75 or more. I'm sorry but I'm probably not going to go out and spend 75 or 50 just because of the card. If it really was a "gift card" i would have been a bit more inclined. This inclusion does significantly up the worth of the box. Also included is a music download. I still haven't downloaded the song, but you can check out the link on the info card.

I'm not disappointed to say the least and this is a major redemption from last months major miss hap. I once again wish there was a makeup item but the usefulness of these items satisfies me enough.

Intro Card
I love their attention to detail and bright colored papers!

Everything unwrapped!

What I received this month:

See it:
Color Club in Blue-Ming:
This polish is adorable. I love this blue color and how nicely it applied to my nails. It is pretty opaque and only took one thick coat to cover my nail. It is fast drying as well.
Price: $8

I did a quick swatch on my nail so ignore the crappy job i did!

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner:
I received the full sized product worth $15 so already my box is worth more than what I paid. This liner is great. I received purple and if you've kept up with my blog you'd know I love purple colored cosmetics. I love that it is a dark, smudge proof liner. It is a deep purple so it adds just a touch of color while still out lining your eyes. It feels more like a stain than just a normal liner so be easy with the applicator. I wouldn't suggest using this over heavy primer or eyeshadow since applicators can become clogged easily.
Price: $15

Eyeko London Skinny Liquid Eyeliner Purple

Hear It:
Earbuds in lime green and hot pink:
I've always been a fan of ear buds and have been very sad since I misplaced my tokidoki ones, so I welcome these to my iPod very happily. These headphones deliver great sound and a nice amount of bass. Plus their color is just adorable! I am a huge fan of the bright color trend.
Price: not listed

Taste It:
Lärabar Über in Cherry Cobbler:
Made of dried nuts and fruit this bar packs a lot of flavor. Almonds, cashews, honey and raisins with bits of cherries, it's not too sweet and no one flavor over powers the others. My son took a bite and he loves it too! I would recommend these if your on the go and want something healthy to give you energy.
Price: $27.95 for a pack of 16

Touch It:
Alterna Bamboo UV + Color Protection Fade-Proof Fluide:
This product feels very soft on the hair. While my hair isn't color treated any more I can't tell you if this works or not. However protecting your hair from UV rays is important and does help prevent damage.
Price: $24

Smell It:
Harvey Prince in Eau Flirt:
This smells amazing. It's citrusy and floral. It is described as having a base of lavender and pumpkin. It is a very simple smell but also very beautiful. It's not over powering and the scent of pumpkin no matter how subtle has been known to cause men to be turned on. Sounds like a win win perfume to me. I know what I want for my birthday!
Price: $55- $98

Hope you enjoied my review or found it useful. I try to spend a lot of time on these reviews, so much so that my fiance has been making fun of me! If just one person finds what i have to say useful or inspiring then i feel like I've done a good job. Have a beautiful day!
