Ever wanted to be a Prom Princess? Well now you can look like one! MAC's limited edition, special packaging, Archie's Girls collection features the Veronica blush (not to be confused with Veronica's Blush the Pearlmatte Face Powder) which has Veronica solo eying Archie in a heart on her right and  hearts on her left. It has a very romantic theme set against a white glossy exterior.

This shade is a midtone violet pink. It applys a bit darker on the skin, if you have a lighter skin tone ,than it appears in the pan. It is easy to blend and soften but is highly pigmented and can be used to give a strong contour. If you sweep too much blush on it will appear a bit red depending on your skin tone. I find this, at times, hard to wear, but when applied just right gives a nice, natural flush. This blush may be more ideal on darker skin tones that it will not appear as harsh on.

If you own the Veronica's Blush Peralmatte Face Powder you may not need this product since they are very similar. The silvery pink background helps to soften the pink hearts whereas there is nothing to soften this blush. Depending on your skin tone you may choose one over the other.

Overall if you like intense blush that can be blended into a soft flush color on lighter skin tones, have medium to dark skin tone, opted to not get the Veronica's Blush Pearlmatte Face Powder and want something a little more intense, or choose to purchase Veronica's Blush Pearlmatte Face Powder and want something to compliment it this is perfect. If you like to collect MAC Limited Edition special packed beauty powders then you might love this! For MAC's newest Limited Edition special packaged collection, Archie's Girls, the beauty powder features a glossy white background for both Betty and Veronica to look adoringly at Archie while surrounded by hearts. It suited valentines day quite well (released before valentines day but i am quite behind.) and did fine justice to these comic characters. While some may find the packaging a little childish or cartoonist, it is meant to look this way.

Veronica's Blush, though named a blush, is not a blush at all! This Pearlmatte face powder gives a nice pearl finish and glow to your skin after foundation or concealer has been applied. Unlike Betty's Pearlmatte face powder this face powder has quite a bit of pink. This product is described as a silvery pink with deep pink hearts. By swiping your brush across you will get a blush tone color that is similar to Veronica's blush Prom Princess. In my opinion if you picked up one, you really don't need the other. By swiping your brush only on the background this is perfect to highlight the apples of the cheeks and the nose.

The formula is soft but not chalky. Opens with the push of a button and lasts about 8 hours on the face though the pink does fade slightly.

Overall if you are a fan of Archie's comics, limited edition packaging from mac, or just a nice silvery pink/pink face powder that could double as a blush, this would be a great product to pick up. The adorable hearts do remind me a bit of physicians formula but a bit sheerer. This product is $29 and can be found here!

MAC Archie's Girls Collection Spoiled Rich Eyeshadow Quad Review and Swatches

When i first saw the promo pics for MAC Archie's Girls i knew i wanted this purple palette. I originally thought that last color on the right was a dark green, like an emerald  and found it drooll worthy. Once i discovered it was really a charcoal grey i felt like, well i have seen this color combination before, in fact i saw it in Lancome's fall line along with quite a few others this fall since purple was one of the it colors for the Fall season. Being released for spring i felt it was a little overdone and recycled with nothing to set it apart. With all my ground feelings out of the way let me get on to the full review!

The Limited Edition packaging for the MAC Archie's Girls collection features both Betty and Veronica looking adoringly at at Archie while surrounded by hearts. This is a bush button to open quad with a sturdy metal and plastic casing. This would look beautiful on your dresser but is sturdy enough to have in your purse.

The quality and formula of this quad is what you would expect from MAC. Most shades were adequately pigmented, easy to blend, easy to buildup. I was glad that that the formula was decent and that these shades weren't soft and did not crumble easily with the swipe of a brush but also weren't so hard that they applied chalky, they were a happy medium. Found that they did last a good 7 hours on my lid and even longer with primer.


The colors included in Spoiled rich are Pin-Up Purple (Frost). This shade is described as a midtone orchid. It is purposely a little sheer since it is a frost and it is a good color to use on the brow bone or to help soften out the more darker shades included. Spoiled Rich (Frost) is also a frost but is more pigmented and bright than Pin-Up Purple. This shade is described as a rich purple and i feel this shade is great as a lid color or a crease color if you used Pin-Up Purple for a soft eye look or as a crease if you used Ron Ron Runs to soften out a smokey eye look. Ron Ron Run (Satin) is a deep navy that gives a bit more pigmentation than the first two shades. Since it is a satin finish it has a bit less of a shimmy look to it and appears almost matte. This shade is great for a lid color (when doing a smokey eye look), a crease shade even an outer v shade. Lastly, Gravel (Matte) is a charcoal grey. This shade is matte and has the most pigmentation of the four. Can be used for crease, outer v, and under the eye as a line. I feel this color scheme really suits Veronica's sultry look and mesh well together.

 Look- For the look i created i used Pin-Up Purple on my lid, Spoiled Rich on my Crease, Ron Ron Run on my outer crease and Gravel on my outer V. I lined my lid with Veronica's Pearl glide liner in Designer Purple. Excuse my brows and lashes i did not do them for this look.

 Overall i would recommend this palette to anyone likes MAC limited edition packaging, Archie's Girls, or purple shadows. At 44$, this palette's shadows are just over 10$ each. Which is decent in terms of comparison to other mac shadows. These colors blend easily and have good pigmentation. They allow you to create a whole eye look. You can pick this up here!

Are you ready for a little dose of the the seductive, spoiled, rich girl Veronica? Prepare yourself! The next few posts will feature items from the Archie's Girls collection by MAC from Veronica's side. While i loved the soft, natural, girl next door, everyday look of Betty, i absolutely love the rich, seductive purple's from Veronica! Which one are you? Maybe a little of both perhaps?

The lipstick packaging for Veronica's color scheme is very similar to Betty in that they come in boxes with both Betty and Veronica adoringly eying Archie surrounded by hearts, the MAC logo, and the collection name. The tubes however are sleek white glossy tubes with Veronica on the left eying Archie in a heart to the right, followed by a trail of hearts. These differ from the black matte tubes with MAC in silver lettering. While some may say this packaging looks childish, it fits perfectly with the cartoon feel of the Archie's comics that inspired it.

The color scheme is a bit darker than Betty. Boyfriend Stealer is a deep blackened plum in a cremesheen finish. This shade is not opaque and requires a lot of layering. This can leave the lips looking a little dirty depending on your lip shape and size. Liner fixes this problem and i would recommend Nightmoth from MAC. Daddy's Little Girl is a midtone pink violet and has a satin finish. Although it is described as a pink violet i find it reads a little more just simple pink with blue undertones on me. If you are light skinned you may experience this as well. The satin finish appears to be semi-matte on the lips and gives full opaque coverage. Ronnie Red is a bright red with a matte finish. It is my favorite of the three. Full opaque coverage in one swipe and did not leave the lips feeling dry. Boyfriend Stealer lasted about 4 hours on the lips while Daddy's Little Girl and Ronnie Red lasted about 6 with mild eating and drinking from a straw.

Overall I think that Daddy's Little Girl is a great color for girls who like bright bold lips and Ronnie Red is perfect for a classic bold lip. They both also have fantastic staying power and apply opaque in one swipe. Boyfriend Stealer however accentuated lip flaws and did not look well (on me at least..) without lip liner. Using it as a wash of color left my lips looking a little "dirty". If you have darker lips or a darker skin tone this shade may be perfect for you but you may still want to opt for lip liner. MAC Archie's Girls Collection Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners in Black Swan, Lord It Up, Petrol Blue, and Designer Purple Review and Swatches

Have you checked out MAC's Pearlglide Intense Eyeliners yet? If you haven't picked these up yet, now might just be the time. Released originally in classic, chic, black packaging, these liners give superior blendability, staying power, just a bit of shimmer, and last all day - even on the waterline! With the release of Archie's Girls MAC released these again in special packaging for only 50 cents more. Yep, you heard me correctly! So not only can you try these at the near normal price, but also get them in super cute packaging! It is also great to know that if you love them, and you will, you can always use your normal packaging one before these. Win, win? I think so!

 

What really caught my eye was the adorable little red hearts all over the white pencil. While it would have been cute to see Betty or Veronica on these pencils i feel spared from overkill. They are cute but not gaudy, and they fit perfectly with the rest of a makeup collection since they still appear a little grown up. Each pencil is capped on the bottom with a band indicating the color of the pencil and also has a white cap to protect the product. These pencils do require sharpening and are very soft so be gentle.

While all these colors are available in the regular Pearlglide varity MAC decided to split these up between Betty and Veronica. Betty- the sweet girl next door with a soft and natural style- is given the more conventional colors  Lord It Up (Bronze with pearl) and Black Swan (Black with gold pearl). Veronica - the fierce, sultry, vixen style - is given the more bold shades of Petrol Blue (Deep navy with pearl) and Designer Purple (Violet with pearl). These shades not only suit the characters personalities but also mesh exceedingly well with their respective color schemes in their individual collections.

The formula of MAC Pearlglide Intense Eyeliner Pencils are soft but also hard enough to get a full line without turning to mush. If left in a warm room they may become too soft simply put in the fridge for about 20 minuets to make them a little harder. Because they are soft they are easy to blend on the lid and do not tag at the lid at all which is a great plus. Once set these liners will not budge even on the water line. I found they staid put through eye tearing and even taking out and putting on contacts. These apply opaque and the pearl shimmer is apparent just enough to add a little shimmer but not over power any eye look.

Overall i would recommend these to anyone who is a fan of MAC, MAC special/limited edition packaging, and to anyone who likes intense, smooth, eyeliners in pencil form with just a bit of shimmer. Easy to apply even for an eyeliner novice and great for creative eyeliner pro's. At only 16.50$ each you are only paying 50 cents more than the normal packaging, which is a nice plus. The first limited edition, special packaging, collection for 2013 has landed! MAC Archie's Girls is finally here after months of waiting! This collection was separated into two sides- Betty and Veronica! Since Betty and Veronica have their own distinct styles MAC gave them two distinct color schemes! Are you the soft, pink, girl next door? Or, are you the ruthless, just a little spoiled, Veronica? Maybe a mix of both!

When i first saw pictures for Betty's eyeshadow quad i felt a little underwhelmed. I found the colors to be too mundane and colors I've seen before but were very on point of what an everyday girl next door would wear. Once i got this product my opinion changed very quickly. This palette is anything but ordinary. I had thought some of these shades would be similar to something i could find in my naked palette or even colors i own already own (honestly who loves makeup and does not have shades similar to the last two (Caramel Sundae and Showstopper)?). What i feel sets this palette apart is the first two shades - Cheryl Chic and Dreammaker. These shades are both frosts. Cheryl Chic is described as a like coral pink while Dreammaker is a pale frosy yellow- these soft pastels compliment the neutrals and add just a tiny bit of spring color trend to the lid.

The packaging is just as cute as the other items in this collection. The palette has the same design as the Pearlmatte Face Powder and includes both Betty and Veronica adoringly eying Archie. They are surrounded by hearts along with the collection name and the MAC logo. This sturdy, push button to open, palette is strong enough to stay closed while in your purse but pretty enough to display on your dresser. The qaulity of the shadows is just as good, each shade gave about 7 hours wear time with the exception of Dreammaker showing noticeable fading at 5 hours. You can apply these individual or together for a complete look. The frosted shades are a bit softer than the matte shades at the right. I did not find them too powdery and did not experience any fallout. With decent pigmentation, only a little was needed on my brush to get true to palette color. These also blended easily.

A look i created using MAC Archie's Girls Collection Caramel Sundae Eyeshadow Quad -  Cheryl Chic was used under the brow on the brow bone and blended into the crease, Dreammaker was applied directly to the lid , Caramel Sundae was applied in the crease, and Showstopper was applied on the outer v blending into the outer crease. I then lined L'Oreal HIP color truth cream eyeliner in black and Rimmel Scandalize mascara. I lined under my eye with Black Swan Pearl Glide Intense Liner by MAC and lined my water line with Lord It Up Pearl Glide Intense Liner by MAC.

Overall MAC Archie's Girls Collection Caramel Sundae Eyeshadow Palette is worth picking up if you like neutral colors with a little pop of pastel or if you are a fan of Archie's Comics. These shadows are on par with other MAC shadows and for 44$- each shadow only comes up to a little over 10$ which is a pretty great bargain. You can pick this palette up here.
