For a while now i have been a little skeptical of cream shadows. Will they set dry? Will they crease? Will they bleed? How long will they last? I have a lot of questions when it comes to cream shadows and am so picky that most times i just pass by them without another thought to avoid the headache and disappointment all together. After i found Maybelline Eye studio Color Tattoo cream shadows, i fell in love, and set that to be standard for all cream shadows from then on. So, when i ran into the new Revlon Midnight Express Cream Eye Shadow Palette i simply wondered, will this live up to Maybelline? Well, somewhat...

Revlon Midnight Express Cream Eyeshadow Palette comes with 6 shades for about $8.99 (in Brooklyn, NYC), so that is about $1.50 a shadow. Thinking about it that way makes it not seem so bad. Not to say this palette is bad, it isn't but it certainly isn't the best. First of all, what i like about this product is it is super easy to blend, its creamy, its pigmented, its soft, you can layer it, you can blend it out on bare skin, you don't really need a primer, and you have a great color selection (my favorites being the silver, black, and burgundy). On the downside, these cream shadows never really dry, so as the day goes on they crease (even when applying primer underneath just to test), if you have greasy eyelids (some people do!) this really isn't the product for you, and i somewhat fear what will happen on a hot or humid day with these. A setting powder is certainly needed, but these can also be used as an eyeshadow base. If you want good cream shadow, splurge for the Maybelline.

Look One-
Used the copper color in the right upper corner for a lid color, and blended the black and burgundy to create a blacked red which actually looks brown.

Look Two-
I used the white on the bottom of the left side and layered some silver on in the inner corner blending out into the crease and on the outer crease i used the green color but made it a little lighter with some silver.
(This picture was taken about 2 hours later, the shadow had begun to form small clumps on my lid, only the left side of the palette did this)

Revlon Diamond Lust Collection (2011) Review and Swatches

I always love a re-release. Not many people are aware that diamond lust was the name of an eye shadow that was available from Revlon in 2006 as part of an amazing collection (i scoured the internet looking for the name but i couldn't find the official name) that i wish would have never been disconnected. It was the first time i bought an entire, yes entire, drugstore collection. This collection was so amazing and so different i still adore it till this day. The collection included a glitter lip topping called Sugar Sugar, eye last orbs that were liquid that sat on your eye lashes like small little rain drops, shimmery, shadows called Diamond lust, lip stains called Just Bitten, nail polish, lip gloss, bronzer, even liquid metal eye shadow cream. you name it this collection had it, was different, and did it like no other brand at the time!

Oh i'm sorry i got really nostolgic there for a minute. As i was saying a re-release like Diamond Lust really got me excited. I found out about it later than i had hopped to but once i found it online i bought all the shadows and i can not help but rave about them. Revlon made them better than ever! 

The new Diamond Lust has nautical and celestial names rather than names that conger up ideas of the bedroom. It is not as sheer as the original and contains actual micro glitter rather than just being a shimmer. I have to say i like the re-release way more than the first and this isn't just my opinion due to thinking in retrospect. While this version is a bit more pigmented because it contains actual micro glitter there is more fall out, instead of fallout shimmer its fall out glitter. So you may have to brush under your eyes lightly with a fan brush after using this. It can be a little hard to blend but if you use it over primer and build lightly and blend with the built up layers you should have no problem.

Overall these shadows can create dramatic glittery looks and i would recommend them to anyone who wants to create a dramatic look whether it is smoky or shimmery!

Ugh, I wanted to hate this product. Why? Because i thought that this was yet another tinted lip balm that was over priced, under pigmented, and too wet feeling. I was completely wrong.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters look like a lip balm, feels like a lipstick, look like a lip gloss when applied, and are packed in cute quilt cut plastic tubes. Can these get any more perfect? I personally don't like the feel of lip gloss. I have tried to jump on the bandwagon and get used to it but i cant. So to be able to achieve the gloss look while using a balm that feels like a lipstick makes me a very happy Cosmeholic!

Clear top to allow you to see the color!

On another note, this collection ranges from sheer to opaque and they can be layered. Apply more for a deeper color, and less for just a hint. They take about a minuet to appear glossy on the lips so don't be dishearten if it doesn't appear glossy right away.The feel on the lips is smooth, lipstick like, even when it looks glossy. It is not sticky, gloppy, or wet feeling. It feels very light, like a mix between lipstick and chap stick depending on how much you apply.

This color will deposit in the creases of your lip. Depending on the light can come off as lilac or pink.
