NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 604 Milk Review and Swatch

I have been hearing for weeks on instagram how NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 604 Milk can really make an eye look, look outstanding. With the way these girls rave about it you would think it slices and dices too (I have been watching too many infomercials, don't you judge me!) So wanting to stay in the loop and see what all the hoopla is about, i bought one.

My impressions with NYX; a brief history:
When i first began buying NYX  i was 15 (just to put that into perspective it was the year 2000), it was at a discount beauty supply store, i am pretty sure most of it was discontinued items, and it was really lacking in quality, but hey it fit my $10 dollar makeup budget. Over the years NYX has improved by leaps and bounds; their matte lipstick collection is phenomenal! So when i opened the white box, and saw a black lace bag that contained my pencil like it was a precious item, the details impressed me so much more than the dingy discount cosmetic store of the past!

OPAQUE! 
This pencil is divine. It applies so smoothly, so opaque, can be blended out, and when eye shadow is applied over it, it delivers a burst of color. This is every girls secret weapon to flawless eye makeup.

Uses-
Applied just to the lid before the crease, blended out a little into the crease, as a primer, can make any eyeshadow look more dramatic and make blending a little easier.
This can be used over lips, to blank them out so that lighter colors can be applied. It will prevent the redness of the lips from changing the color.
This can be used as a white lipstick.
This can be used to create your own lipstick shade- apply all over lips. Take a pigment (suitable for lips, some pigments advise against lip use, so check your product), brush over your lips. For a matte color leave as is, for a bit of gloss apply a clear gloss using a brush applicator, not a sponge.
This can be used under the eye to help lighten dark circles and blending in with cover up, primer, or concealer.

 This blog entry will be focusing on swatching the next three colors i have purchased from the MAC Heavenly Creature Mineralize Eye Shadow Collection.  Magnetic Attraction-
This color is beautiful! It is like the sun swirling on fire! As with most of the shadows in this collection you receive three distinct colors in one shadow. This is why the $20 price tag really isn't that high. Magnetic Attraction includes a beautiful golden shimmer, a soft copper orange, and a deep burgundy red. Oh the many looks you can create with this one shadow. Use it wet and you can have golden lids blended out into a fiery red. Use it dry and you can have a shimmery gold blended with a soft orange and a deep red for the outer corner. Or you can go full on dramatic and combine all three colors for an all over lid color that resembles a phoenix rising from the ashes. This is the shadow that legends are made of. Ok maybe i am a little bias but i really love this shadow.

 This is a look i created. It didn't want it to be too dramatic as i was just running errands but i like the effect that i created.

Invincible Light-
Frost! This reminds me of glistening snow. This shade is a mix of light lilac, gold, shimmery pastel pink, and white. These colors alone are beautiful, but when blended together give a golden white frost color! This is perfect for the inner corner of the eye, as a lid color, or right under the brow. Applied wet it is sparkly white!

Neo Nebula-
I really wasn't sure if i was going to like this color or not. While i love every shade of shadow, pink is that one shade that i get really iffy with. I own many pink shades and rarely wear them because of how they translate on my skin tone. This shadow, however, is completely different. Mixed together in Neo Nebula is a coral pink, light pink, and a ribbon of dark brownish pink. I find this shade to be a very natural looking shade. The light pink is a great under brow color, the medium pink is a wonderful lid color, the dark pink blended with the medium pink is a pretty crease color, and the dark pink alone is a good outer corner color.
 When all the colors combine they turn into a pink purple color!

 The following look was created using Neo Nebula and Invincible Light. Invincible light was used on the lid first dry over primer. I blended the dark pink and the light pink for a crease color that i blended, dry, up to the brow. I then used the darker pink as an outer crease color but blended it in significantly. I then went over the lid with wet invincible light and blended that upward half way to the brow.

Hady's Ma.Nish.Ma Pop Art Eye Shadow in Cerulean Blue and Alizarin Crimson

 During a quick trip to Rite Aid i spotted an obscenely bright display with eyeshadow I've never seen before. Hedy's Ma.Nish.Ma Pop Art Eye Shadow combines two colors into one shadow. It looks as though one shadow was splattered on to another. I thought this was so cute i had to pick up two just to try.

 Alizarin Crimson-
This color was my first choice! A hot pink imposed on a bright blue. Yes please!  I like the pigmentation but i have to say i was hoping that this would be a matte shadow (the finish is satin). The blue color comes off more as a dark purple, and the pink comes off true to what you see. When applying these over primer they really pop. I have not yet done an eye swatch but i have down a hand swatch to display the color.

I was a little disappointing to find out the pink didnt go all the way down, once i used up a small spot of the splatter the color was gone in that area. You can see the faded areas in the middle right.

Cerulean Blue-
This was my second choice only because ive seen these colors paried together a lot. The teal color is pretty pigmented and comes off pearlesq while the black is a little more matte. When mixed together these colors create a really pretty dark pearlesq green. I think this color when combine would make a great green smokey eye. Just like with the above color i am disappointed that the splattered drops of teal do not go all the way down, they are only on the surface.

Milani Runway Eyes Review and Swatches - Black Out, Caribbean Sea, and Leaf Green

So shiny! These babies really stand out on a shelf among the other drugstore shadows.  Milani Runway Eyes are shimmery and pigmented. I bought my first Milani Runway Eyes quite some time ago and have since been adding to my quaint collection. These shadows are so versatile. They can be used wet- which is kind of like painting the color on your eyelids, or dry - i prefer over primer.

 

If you love this shadow there is a generous amount so you don't have to worry about running out plus they come in many different colors. There is only one thing i really don't like about this product and that is the applicator. It is the worst applicator i have ever used. Since it is curved it doesn't fit between my fingers well, doesn't give me even coverage, doesn't allow me to properly blend, and that little brush at the end, yah that's useless. So pick up some sponge applicators at the beauty supply store or drug store before you get this product. Or use brushes if you have them. I prefer E.L.F brushes, you can check them out here!

My newest addition- Black Out
I needed a shadow that would be shimmery in the crease or outer corner. Most of my blacks are matte or not nearly shimmery enough. Black out is a happy medium. The swatches don't do it justice.

Caribbean Sea-
I bought this color before pastels became in again. Aren't i lucky that i am ahead of the trend (always!). This shade is a bright light blue. It shimmers, even though the pictures don't show it as much as i would have liked them too. This is perfect as a lid color blended out. If you use this color dry and without primer it will appear as a light blue shimmer without being too opaque. I feel this could work for any skin tone or style depending on how it is used.

Leaf Green-

One of my favorite greens! I have had this shade for years! When i say they last, they really last. For 6 dollars i have gotten 6 years out of this shadow. I can't say that for most of my other shadows! This is a light shimmery green. When applied over primer it can look like it has a pearl finish but it is really a frost or shimmer. If you use it wet it appears frost. If you use it without primer it is simply a green shimmer.
