Glossy Box December 2012 Glamour, Glitz, and Gloss Review and Swatches

I was super, super psyched about the December 2012 Glossybox. I refrained from posting because i had gotten my friend Krys one as a gift and did not want to spoil the surprise.

As someone who appreciates nice packing i couldn't help adore the wrapping paper that had little gingerbread men, wreaths and even nut crackers on it! Now that i am positing after the holidays, just looking at this paper makes me wish it was Christmas again!

This months Glossy Mag was, in my opinion, just a little more relevant to the products of the box and i enjoyed reading about some current trends and looks. I got some inspiration for the new year.

This month had great products! A nice range, great sizes, products i would enjoy and looked forward to trying. While i am still upset about the whole Illamasqua eye/lip pencil this helped to put them back in my good graces.

List of items!

Ecru New York Cosmetic Hair Care- Acacia Protein Oil
This is one of those all in one products that is hard to believe but you have to try at least once anyway. So i found that when i applied it to my hair my hair was a bit less frizzy and did feel softer to the touch. As for the split ends and reducing the drying time i did not see any significant improvement. I doubt i would ever buy this product, but it was nice to try!

Forest Essentials Luxurious Ayurveda Bath and Shower Oil-
I have always known people that swear by applying baby oil and the like on their skin after a hot shower. I never thought that was a good idea because who wants to get clean and then get all oily? Perhaps it was the whole idea of baby oil because when i tried this grown up product, i found it to be fantastic. It is an oil so there is some grease factor but it does not last long. The skin absorbs this oil fairly fast and allowed me to have super soft skin that smelled lightly of a floral scent. For $22 dollars a bottle this is something i could see myself picking up once every few months as a treat. A little of this product goes a long way so you wont have to worry about running out too soon!

A couple of months back Glossybox featured a product from Heartland Fragrances that i loved so much i bought four more! So when i saw another Heartland Fragrance product i knew it was going to be a high quality product that i would fall in love with. These are 100% pure Epsom bath salts that have a light scent. I put just a little in a warm bath and closed my eyes. While it is no miracle i did feel calmer and more comforted when compared with just a regular bath. My bath is so small i have to sit straight up with my knees locked. Being able to relax in that state is pretty nice. Imagine if you have a nice big bath to lay down in how nice this would be?

This is another brand i am a fan of. I don't style my hair with heat often but it is good to know that when i do my hair is protected.

Pleats Please By Issey Miyake-
This soft scent is a great choice for day wear. It isn't heavy and doesn't linger too much on clothes.

Zoya Storm-
When Zoya had their sale a while back i got quite a few products from their winter line. This polish was one of them. While i do wish i would have gotten another polish like Electra, one i did not already have this made a nice gift to my mother. I love this shade because it isn't a common one. Black with lots of fine holographic pigment make this a black that stands out and doesn't appear too gothic on the nails. This is one of the most beautiful blacks that i own and if you can pick this shade up before it is gone, i think you should!

Finally, Glossybox included a nice piece from Jewel Mint (The third subscription box that i know of to do so in the past two months). I received a gold and copper necklace. While not something i would pick out on my own i do like how pretty and elegant it is. I have already worn it three times so obviously it is growing on me. I am currently a Jewelmint Subscriber but i skip most months since nothing appeals to me. If i saw this product i don't think i would buy it because i don't find its worth to be $29.99 but other than price it really is a nice piece.

Overall i think i loved this month more than all of the other months since i have been subscribed. The selection was diverse and i loved how i knew half the brands, some of the products and yet some were still very new to me. Normally i would complain about a company using products or brands over and over but these brands sent out vastly different items to allow me to appreciate them more. This box also contains most of the products i would buy or already buy. So the nail was hit right on the head for me personally. I look forward to more boxes like this since i feel this was more geared toward my personality. Did you get the December box? If so what did you think?

If you would like to sign up for Glossybox it is $21 dollars a month and products are always deluxe sample size or full size. I have seen no small foil packets and the products are mostly relevant. The sturdy box is very reusable and makes storage of makeup so easy! If you would like to sign up you can do so here!

Glossy Box USA November 2012 Box Review and Swatches

'Tis The Season to be Glossy?

Alright, i have put this off long enough. Let me start off by saying that Glossy Box is hands down one of my favorite subscriptions. It comes without fail, i never have to call and complain about anything, most of the products are full size or multi use, the magazine is fun to read, and i love reusing the sturdy box. So whats the issue this month? Well for starters when i do a beauty profile on a site, i expect it will be used to send me products that are based on what i chose. So if i pick my style as extravagant, you would send me products that are well.. extravagant.. right? No, not if you are Glossy Box.

I loved the presentation and packaging, much like i always do.

The item list was long enough for me to get excited about!

What i received:
Illamasqua Ltd Lip & Eye Medium Pencil-
Illamasqua is a brand of extravagance, color, and fun, and in my beauty profile i listed my style as extravagant. So what color would they include? Orange? no no Pink? ... Baby blue? Neon green????? ..... blackened gray.. wait what? So you mean to tell me that according to glossy box the following is considered extravagant...
Yes this is beautiful, but not EXTRAVAGANT.
So i googled extravagant eye makeup, the above i goggled black eyeliner.

Oh, would you look at that, yep that's  more me. I guess i should have picked.... oh wait, i did pick extravagant.
Anyway here you go...
I received the full size worth $20 dollars. It is a shame that others got bright versions of this product and didn't want it, yet people who choose EXTRAVAGANT, got this....

 Lierac Gommage Sensoriel-
This body scrub is pretty unique i love how it made my skin feel soft without feeling rough. It is not like most scrubs in that the particles are suspended in a gel that actually turns kind of oily once in contact with the skin. Not greasy though. I liked this product, but it isn't something i would go out of my way to buy.
Full Size- $30 for 3.5 oz

Nume Style Arganics by NuMe Argan Oil-
I liked how this product worked. I used it on my skin at first and tt was decent and made my skin feel lastingly soft. I applied some to the tips of my hair and left it on over night and woke up with soft easy to manage hair. I like that it is versatile.
Full size- $59 for 4oz

Perfumies Soil Perfume Stick in Snow Bunny-
Most of my product was melted into the top of the stick rendering it too soft too use since it is all out of the tube. How lovely. It had a soft scent, but not something i would ever buy due to fear of it melting.
Full size: $7
I received the full size.

Skin&Co Roma Truffle Serum:Hydro-Toning Day Face Serum
Strike one- my bottle was mostly empty, Stike two- others received a card card with promo information, i did not, AND strike three- my card said to enjoy my free sample.. oh you mean the one i just paid for? Really, Really? As for the little bit of the product itself, a little goes a long way in terms of covering your face and seeing some noticeable changes. I don't have many wrinkles but prevention is always good. But after the BS insert information i will be passing completely on this flaky brand.
Full size $36 for 1.01 oz

My past months have been filled with amazing and relative products to my lifestyle and my beauty profile but this month just falls short. Blackend gray liner, wrinkle serum, a half empty product, and a melted perfume stick, yes this is neither extravagant nor quality. I have since changed my profile to reflect trendy. I hope this helps some since i am highly displeased over their complete lack of use of the beauty profile.

While this month was awful, not all are. If you would like to have high end beauty products that are not in foil packets and are more than one use or full sized, sign up for glossy box. Only 21$ a month which includes shipping. Comes with a magazine and a sturdy reusable box. Sign up here.
