Infulenster Beauty Blogger Vox box 2012

I think i gasped in joy when i received the email letting me know that i was chosen to participate in the Infuenster Beauty Blogger Vox Box. Blogging about beauty products is a passion, a joy, and rewarding. I love trying products, whether i love them or hate them, and then sharing my experiences, swatches, and reviews with you.

The Beauty Blogger Vox Box, my third box from Influenster, has all the essential beauty products that perfect for fall. When i say all, i mean ALL. So read on to discover what products you should be on the look out for!

Disclaimer i received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing and reviewing purposes. All opinions on these products are my own honest opinions.

NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact in Dark Shadows-
I love this compact. As you may have seen in one of my past posts (click here!), i am absolutely in love with these. NYC New York Color has really outdone themselves once more. This all in one compact really is everything you need for the perfect eye look. First apply the eye primer to the lid and the illuminator to under your brow. Apply the second shade for your lid color, the third for your crease, the first for your brow and use the last to define the outer corner and use as a liner! Put on some mascara and you are done! The shades are highly pigmented so your smokey look will really stand out. There is a little bit of fall out with the third shade so have a fan brush or a small makeup sponge handy to brush away the fall out. It is the only shade that was a little too soft. There are directions on the back so you can do it as i have mentioned, as the back shows, or make your own unique look! I love how coordinated this set is and each color compliments the others. This is a drugstore must have, and at $4.99 you really can pick them all up! I will be posting a tutorial on how to make a complete eye look within a few days!

These are perfect for those who know how to apply lashes but still need a little extra help (use the easy applicator). I will be posting a how to on how to apply these so you can see just how easy it is to apply them within the coming days so look out!

Bath and Body Works Mini Candles-
Do you love the smell of fall? If you do these are perfect for your house. Not only do they look adorable and are the smaller versions of the larger three wick candles, but they are highly aromatic. I received White Barn nut meg and spices. I smelled it as i was opening the box and thought for a moment, did influenster send me a baked good? Once i saw it was a candle i was shocked! It wasn't an over powering or unpleasant scent it was strong but in a really good way. Once i lit it my entire house (apartment, but it is pretty big) was filled with the warm smell of this spicy fall favorite. It smelled as if i had been cooking gingerbread cookies, or was making a delicious spiced pumpkin pie! (But more the spice of it not the pumpkin smell). These are a must have home decor item for fall. Stock up at Bath and Body works for $3.50 for the mini's and $20 for the large three wick candles.

EBOOST-
So now that your eyes are did and your house smells fantastic about about some inner beauty help. This effervescent powder boosts mood, focus, and immunity with natural ingredients. There is no crash and a delicious orange taste (other flavors are available) just add to water and you are ready to start your day healthy! This is great for fall/winter months when the cold bug is literally everywhere. No one looks sexy with a runny nose, so have these handy!
You can pick up a box of 20 for $28 or 30 for $39 or even 12 shots for $39. Flavors available are Orange, Pink Lemonade, Acai Pomegranate, and even Super Berry. With so many choices you cant go wrong!

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin (Available in different hair shades)
I already owned these before Influenster sent them to me so i have had a little bit of experiences with them. When i first got them i was skeptical over how well they would work. They claim to have the staying power of 20 separate pins. So i placed my hair up into a simple warped bun, twisted one spin pin through the bottom and one through and it staid! I used them all summer! Now that fall is here this easy Spin Pin's are the perfect way to achieve simple a sleek bun. With all the wind who wants their hair being messed up? Using a spin Pin will keep your hair in place through any whether and will last all day. You can do one bun on top or side of your head along with a messy low bun. Even two smaller buns using one Spin Pin each for an elegant undo that looks like it took forever to do. 60 seconds and your done.
You can find these at drugstores for $7.29 (at Duane Read they are $9.99)

Not Your Mothers Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream-
I am still scratching my head over this one. If influenster is always looking at what their member do like their videos and what not, wouldn't they know i have straight hair that is minimally wavy? I mean its super long there is no missing it! I wrote to Not Your Mother on Facebook asking for how to use this product on straight hair and there is no use. I read that it can help to eliminate frizz and fly-ways. So i figured maybe that would help me with those problems but it simply made me look like i put grease in my hair. I hope this works better on the people that it is intended for.
You can find the full size in stores like CVS for about $6.00

As a bonus i also received:
Boots No. 7 Beautiful Skin in Night Cream and Cleansing Lotion-
The night cream, suitable for normal to dry skin, is a great facial cream. I used this product before i went to bead and my face felt soft an moisturized when i woke up. The cleansing lotion felt great in the morning. It eliminated my need to use toners which was nice. My medicine cabinet is stacked with products and it was nice to have a product that eliminated another while still moisturizing my face. These products are hypo-allergenic and together made me feel like i had a soft and smooth face. I wore it under my regular BB cream and even when i removed my daily makeup my face was still soft (never oily). I have an oily T zone and this did not exacerbate the problem which was nice!

Individualeyes Custom Compact by NYC Review

While I really wasn't planning on doing another drug store review so soon my recent trip to Duane Reade lead me to buy a few items which i am about to completely rave about. You ready for this?

So I know I might be a little behind in comparison to other bloggers but when i saw NYC (New York Color) had color palettes that not only contained all the colors necessary to create a flawless eye look but also came with a base AND an illuminater i nearly had a cosmetic induced orgasm right there in the store. HOW COULD I HAVE MISSED THIS! The palettes, which are geared toward different shades of eye colour and have adorable New York themed names such as Union Square (for brown eyes) and Central Park (for green eyes)  are only 5 dollars. Thats right for 5 dollars you get 4 eye shaddows and two different kinds of bases, along with a how to on the back. That is less than a dollar a shadow.

Now i have been skeptical of N.Y.C cosmetics in the past. I started to buy them back in early 2000 when their eye shadows were extremely powdery, did not last long in the container nor the eye, and if you ever doped it it was a powder bomb. The quality was exactly what you were paying for. However, over the years N.Y.C. has really started to produce some quality makeup while retaining their cheap prices. They understand that even though there is a recession we still want quality makeup!

The items i purchased were 942 - Smoky Blue Individualeyes Custom Compact, and 939 Bryant Park Individualeyes Custom Compact. FYI: I do not have blue eyes, but these colors were too goo to pass up.

 Side by side
Bryant Park 939
and
Smoky Blue eyes 942
942 Smoky Blue comes with slightly metallic golden highlighter, a slightly metallic silver all over lid, a sparkly dark brown crease, and a purpleish brown contour. Each color is smooth, soft, and highly pigmented. This is one of those rare products that you can create a really nice look without a base. The primer base makes the colors pop and last all day while the illuminator brings out the colors sparkle and also helps the color to last all day and adhere to the eyelid like the primer base.
 Instructions on the back.
939 Bryant Park comes with a pastel purple highlighter, greyish purple all over lid, medium purple crease, and gray blue contour. These are also soft, highly pigmented and can be made to pop by simply applying them over the primer base or illuminator base.

 Smoky Blue
On the right is the shadows over the primer base, on the left is over the illuminator base. The illuminator base makes the metallic colors stand out more.
From bottom to top - highlighter, all over lid, crease, contour.

 Bryant Park
On the right is the primer base and on the left is the illuminator base. The illuminator base made the gray look a bright pastel blue i loved it!
From bottom to top- Contour, crease, all over lid and highlighter. Not to be bias or anything but this one is my favorite of the two Individualeyes palettes.
What i used to create my look using bryant park.
Foundation brush, eyeshadow brush, crease brush, blender brush, contour brush, and liner brush. I also used covergirl face powder, and N.Y.C all over primer. Lastly i used L'Oreal Volumous mascara.
 Step by step:
1- Primer base was applied
2- All over lid shadow
3- Crease shadow
4- Highlighter under the brow
5-Contour in the outer corners
6- I used a blending brush to blend the shadows together
7- Lined under my eye with the contour color using a liner brush
8- and lastly i applied some blue sparkle liner using a N.Y.C pencil in starry blue sky found here.
(Not shown, mascara applied)

Now a few things i really love overall about these palettes are the fact that if you are traveling you can pop them in with your brushes, or into a small makeup bag and you have everything you need to complete an eye shadow look. The contour color doubles as an eye liner when using an eyeliner brushes.  Plus, and i really cant get over this, that it comes with its own primers! Really the only thing you need aside from this pallette is brushes if you like them over the sponge applicator, and maybe mascara. And even if you choose not to use the instructions on the back, since the colors blend really well you can create many different looks.

Rating:
Qaulity 5/5
You are getting about 20 dollars worth of product for only 5 (Lancome sells a comparable palette sans base for 50 dollars). The shadow lasts all day when used with either base. Highly pigmented.
Packaging 5/5
Easy open. Sturdy. See through. Easy close.
Products: 3/5
There is a color combination for everyone! My only complaint is that the base only comes in a light fleshtone leaving out other skin colors. I found this a little insensitive.
Customer service N/A
Overall rating 4.3/5
I think for 5 dollars every girl should pick one up and have one in her purse. You cant go wrong with one of these palettes!

You can find these at drugstores. Or check them out on their website here- New York Color
