Wet N Wild Going In The Wild Limited Edition Palette Review Swatches and Look

Wet N Wild Going In The Wild Color Icon Palette
The loveliness of spring has begun to show in the slowly warming weather, the green of perennial flower stems starting to poke through the soil, and pastel palettes hitting drugstores. Going in the Wild is subtle tribute to the season that is a a great transitional palette and a hit in every possible way!

Wet N Wild Going In The Wild Color Icon Palette
If you buy drugstore brands often you may be aware that Wet N Wild has a line of color icon eyeshadow palettes that range from three pan to 8. They are normally highly pigmented, soft, a bit powdery, but overall fantastic quality for their price range. So when i picked up Going in the Wild (which is very hard to find, i don't mind limited edition but if we can't get our hands on it what is the point?) i expected to like it, i had no idea how impressed i would be.

Wet N Wild Going In The Wild Color Icon Palette

First let me start with the packaging. While this palette is like the standard 8 pan palette in that each shadow has their application purpose stamped in, and they are separated into two looks, these pans are against a white background. The palette has a white base unlike the standard black base. The cover also has white flowers printed on it to give it an overall spring feel. I like this little touch. The applicator included has one brush end and one sponge end. While i never find these useful it is nice for someone who does not have a set of brushes. On the back of the palette there are step by step suggestions on how to create a full eye look using the palette. Even though each shade is designated for a specific place on the eye you can really use any of these shades anywhere on the eye and even mix and match from the left side or the right side.

The application of these shades are smooth, easy to blend, minimal fallout, only two shades were a bit too powdery if too much pressure is applied (the lilac and the mint). Overall these shades were well pigmented and i found them to really pop with or without primer. Without primer i got about 4 hours of wear before fading with primer i was able to wear them 7+ without fading. I love how smooth they are on the skin. The nice thing about this palette is if you are not a fan of bright colors there are enough neutrals to allow you to do a soft neutral look with maybe just a pop of color.

The shades on the left start with a smooth, frosted beige for the brow bone, a nice rose frost for the eyelid, a powdery somewhat matte lilac for the crease, and a rich eggplant shade with a bit of purple micro glitter for the defining shade. The glitter does stay put for the most part, but there can be a little bit of it fading, i did not see any on my cheek throughout the day. On the right a frosted champagne is used to highlight the brow bone, the eyelid shade is a powdery matte mint shade, the crease is a chocolate brown but it leans green, and finally the last shade is a deep forest green  with a kelly green reflection.

For this look i used the entire left side of the palette. I used all the shades for their designated parts of the eye except that i blended the lilac into the lid and into the brow and used the definer shade to highlight my outer v and extended it to the middle of my crease.

Overall this is a must have spring palette. If you can find this in drugstores it is about $5. I find its quality to be just over this price. From smooth application to pigmentation and color range, this is something i think anyone can find use for in their collection. Plus how adorable is the packaging?

Coastal Scents Camo Quads in Light, Medium, and Dark Review, Tutorial, and Video How To

Not too long ago Coastal Scents had a cant miss sale that i just, well, could not miss! They were offering their normally about $8 Camo Quads for only $4 and change. With a promo code from my IPSY bag, the total was brought down to $3 and change. I was able to get all three Camo Quads for just about 12$ which is an all around steal. But even better than all this talk of money is the fact that these Camo Quads are worth every penny!

First let me tell you about how they are packaged. There are in compact form. Each one has a clear lid to allow you to see the shades. There are four cream shades per quad. Each quad contains one white shade and four shades for a specific tone. There are three tones Light, Medium, and Dark.

These creams apply opaquely but can be blended out using a brush, sponge or even your fingers. They are light enough to blend into a flawless look, covering pores, dark spots, under eye circles, blemishes, and even make a great eyeshadow primer but also thick enough so that they can remain completely bold if you need them to. You can use other shades in the quad or even other shades from other quads to perfectly match your skin tone. If you are unsure of what color would be best on you purchase the medium shade (So long as you are not the darkest brown). The medium quad allows you to have access to a medium brown (if you are light brown in complexion) but also a pale beige if you are lighter in complexion. You can use the white to make any of the three shades lighter or use the darkest shade to make any of the shades a bit darker.

I feel that only the Light Camo Quad takes into consideration the different undertones that skin can have. For example  it is pretty obvious that the shade on the right is very yellow, the shade on the bottom is a bit pink/peach, and the shade on the left has a bit of a tan under tone.

If you have light or medium skin i suggest buying all three, if you have dark skin i suggest buying only medium and dark. These Camo Quads are great for highlighting and contouring. I was able to use the darkest shade of the Dark Camo Quad and blend it out to contour my cheeks and nose. I was able to highlight with the white shade blended out over my natural skin. I set this cream using a translucent powder.

You can also check out my video on how to contour and highlight below!

Overall i found these Quads very useful. I think Coastal Scents did a great job on quality, price range, and packaging. These quads can fit in the palm of your hand, and are easy to travel with. If you are on the go you can use the lid to blend your custom skin tone. You can purchase these here!

Kiss everEZlashes Review and Tutorial

As a cosmeholic, i own every type of cosmetic that you can imagine. The one thing i own but never use are false lashes. While they look so beautiful i never can apply them correctly. I get glue all over my hand, they mess up my eye makeup as i am applying them, they fall off my eyelid, apply lopsided, i could go on about how bad i am at applying fake lashes. I always hope that one day there would be a product that could allow me to wear fake lashes, KISS has made my dreams come true.

When i first opened up my Bride to Be Vox Box 2012, i was equally impressed with each item but i found the Kiss everEZlashes to be the most relevant. I want to look fantastic on my big day (and well everyday!) and knowing that there is a product i can use to have gorgeous full lashes that i can do myself in about 60 seconds really made me appreciate the Kiss brand more than ever. Their innovation and attention to the customer will keep me a life long customer.

What makes these lashes so special? Well for starters they have little red strings on each side of each lash to make applying the glue and fixating these lashes to your lid and easy and simple task. Simple take the lash by the strings and apply a thin line of glue. This glue is no drip and has a no mess applicator so don't worry about getting glue everywhere. After about 60 seconds all you need to do is hold the strings taught and apply from the outer corer to the inner corner of your upper lashes. Once applied simply remove the strings by sliding them out. Super simple!

Tips: Watch out for strings, getting glue on the string area will make them hard to pull out. Apply makeup before applying these lashes but you can hold off on the eye liner until after these are applied. To remove use an oil based makeup remover. These are simple to apply and simple to remove. If you are a novice at applying fake lashes this is a must have.

You can find these in drug stores for about $3.99. They are high quality lashes at a very affordable price.

Check out my video on how to apply these lashes and to see how simple it really is!

Wet N Wild Color Icon Palette Review Swatches and Tutorial Plus Lancome Dupes

Drugstore brands are finally taking a cue from the more expensive brands in terms of quality and color. Have you ever bought a great palette from the drugstore and thought these colors are amazing but how do i create a cohesive look? Or Where can i find highly pigmented shades that are on trend and bendable? Well Wet N Wild thinks you have! As a result they have released Color Icon Platte's which contain 8, yes you heard me, 8! shades that make it easy to create an everyday look and a dramatic look. You could also use each shade alone or make your own look by mixing and matching without the palette and between palettes.

Each shade has its use printed into it along with directions on how to use these colors on the back, and the applicator is both a sponge applicator and a brush. These are perfect for novice makeup users but you can also get really creative with this if you are a little more experienced. As always i suggest you use a primer under these shadows.

Pros:
-Highly pigmented
-Blendable
-Easy to work with
-Great color range
-Opaque over primer (most colors)

Cons:
-Some fallout with some colors
-Some shades are too soft
-If you drop this your shadows will break

Shades:
738 Comfort Zone:
This palette is great for everyday looks. On the Left are browns and on the right are Greens. Each side is highly pigmented, there is a bit of fall out especially if you use the applicator included. The name is very appropriate since it allows you to stay in a natural/neutral comfort zone, while allowing you to step out a little with the green. The left side is similar to Coral Crush by Lancome while the right side is similar to Jade Fever.

As you can see from the swatches if you are light skinned the shades on the left will range from blending into your natural skin color to a nice dark chocolate brown with copper flecks. The Green side includes mainly pearlesq shades with the exception of the second to last color which contains micro glitter. The bottom color on the green side is the same shade as Lime Crime's Dragon Scale which is now discontinued. It is a brown with a green iridescence to it.

How to create an every day natural look using only 2 brushes. Follow these steps:
Start by priming the eye. Then use a flat eyeshadow brush to apply, from the left side, the second color from the top to your eyelid. You apply this just to the crease.

Using a crease brush fill in your crease using the third color from the left side.

Using the flat eyeshadow brush apply the first color under the brow bone.
Use the flat eyeshadow brush to sweep and blend the crease color up towards the brow.
Use the crease brush to outline the outer V. Literaly make a V and define the outer liner. You will use the bottom color.
Using the flat brush, dipped slightly in the second color, blend and sweep the color into your crease and into the bottom outer corner.
Dip the flat brush into the last shade to help define and dab and blend. Sweeping gently.

Apply liquid liner and mascara, fill in your brows.

Easy! Want to tone it down a little? Use your third color, crease color, as your crease and V color. This will lighten the outer V and it will be less dramatic than shown.

736 Petal Pusher -
This is very similar to more expensive palettes such as Violet Magnetique by Lancome and Amethyst Glam by Lancome and will allow you to get on trend for much less. The left side has lighter colors for an everyday look while the right side allows you to create a smokey and more dramatic look. The first and second colors on the left are lacking pigment, and you will have to work hard to make them show up, however, if you are going for a natural or simple look, a shadow that isn't as opaque may be the point.

If you look at the swatches above you can see that the top (Left side) is very light aside from the bottom two colors. So the look you could create is light or you could borrow the rose color from the right side to add a little more drama. On the bottom swatch, right side, has very perlesq shades aside from the second to last color which is burgundy with pink micro glitter. There is slight fall out, but you can remove it with a fan brush.

737  Blue Had Me At Hello-
I love the witty name, name aside this one is my favorite palette. The shades of blue just go effortlessly together. While the white, first color on the left side, is very low in pigment the rest are very high. As with the above two palettes, the left side is more for an everyday look with the first two colors being very light and subtle while the two bottom are a bit more dramatic. With this palette you can create two different types of smokey eye which i find interesting. I love the micro glitter in the third color on the left and the last color on the right. This palette will get you noticed and will look fantastic subtle or really layered. There is fallout so have your fan brush or makeup sponge ready to brush your cheeks clear. The left side is similar to Midnight Rush and the right side is similar to Parisian Nights; these are both by Lancome.

I love the silver undertones in the white from the left side of the palette. The micro glitter is only apparent if you pat the color on rather than swipe. Also this is the only palette in the collection which contains a matte color. The black matte is a bit chalky but the color payoff is very deep.

Have you checked out these palettes? What do you think about them? Have you picked up the high end brand versions?

Julep Velvet Manicure Tutorial

For those of you in the nail know, you know that Ciate has released a velvet manicure set. What are velvet nails? They are nails that have the texture of velvet and are very soft or fuzzy to the touch. They appear matte and require no overcoat. However, for 20$, this seems a bit overpriced to me. While i love the look i don't think i am willing to shell out that much for something that i put on my nails. Solution? Do it yourself! This idea isn't original since i have seen many blogger suggest the same idea so this will be my take on the DIY velvet nails.

The first thing i am going to suggest is to use a high quality brand of nail polish. My choice is Julep because they have a shade very close to the navy shade that Ciate is selling and have consistently good quality. The navy is what sold me on it but honestly you can use any color but make sure your flocking powder matches (i will explain flocking powder momentarily)

What you will need to create Velvet nails-
- A nail filer to fix your nail shape. With this manicure any out of shape nail will be very apparent. I think a square nail looks best.
-Nail polish remover to remove any polish or oils from your nail before applying polish. I like Julep polish since i can just press down the cotton ball.
-Base coat
-Nail color - Michelle by Julep
-Flocking Powder in Wild Blueberry (this is loose velvet powder you can find in any craft store. You can purchase flocking powder here!)
-Paper towel to collect the loose velvet (flocking powder)
- Tooth brush- to brush away excess from sides of nail

To start, remove all polish/oils from nails using nail polish remover and a soft cotton ball. Next file down your nails to make them even to the shape you prefer. Apply your base coat. Once the base coat has dried apply one coat of your chosen color to all of your nails and let dry.

I personally love this navy color and i also love how it is nearly identical to the one offered by Ciate. This can be purchased here (it is called Michelle).

Once your polish has dried apply a thick coat to one nail then sprinkle flocking/velvet powder over the nail pressing gently down all over the nail to ensure it has completely adheres. Do this to each nail individually. Let dry.

Now this next step i learned the hard way. Once you have made your nails velvet go over them with ANOTHER thick coat of polish, doing each nail individually and apply a coat of velvet/flocking powder and once again press down. Having two coats allows it to last MUCH MUCH longer. If you only go over with polish and velvet once if you wash your hands more than once the velvet will come off and you will have what looks like messed up polish beneath it. If the second coat comes off underneath will still appear and feel "fuzzy" thus not ruining the manicure. My nails have remained perfectly velvet (except for minor chipping on my thumb from trying to open a package).

Two coats is the trick to maintaining this manicure. It is a bit time consuming so if you only want this look for one night or a special occasion only do one coat for a more lasting effect use the two coat method.

Once completed fold your paper towel in half and flick gently to gather the powder in the middle and gently sift back into the bottle.  Use your tooth brush to brush around the nail to remove any excess powder. This manicure will last a little more than a week. Make sure to wash gently.

You can click all pictures to see them larger.
Hope this tutorial helped you! What do you think of the velvet manicure? Would you try it? What color would choose?
