Maybelline Color Goes Electric Color Sensational Vivid Lipstick in Electric Fuchsia and Orange Edge

I feel like we have entered one of the most amazing time's in history for drugstore cosmetics. It is like a resonance of sorts. Cosmetic companies have heard our cry's and have started to deliver bright, bold, statement shades that we have long been craving. Maybelline has been one of the front of this movement and what better way to bring in spring than with an amazing collection- Color Goes Electric. This collection features quads, nail polish, new limited edition vivid's, glosses, and even blush! While i have already reviewed the blush here, and the glosses here, this post will focus on the two Vivid lipsticks that i picked up from this collection - Electric Fuchsia and Orange Edge! Plus i will help you to determine if you really need these shades and if you do i will show you exactly why!

First let's talk about the packaging. The new vivids collection, which by the way i thought was limited edition in and of it self, but these specifically say limited edition so are they limited, limited edition? Are the regular vivid's now their own permanent line (i can wish cant i?). These shades have bright neon caps just like the other Vivid's. This varies from the permanent line in that these do not have color specific caps. So if you are used to seeing a cap shaded to the lipstick these are not the same color as the cap (at least not all). These caps snap on to a sliver base and the name of the color is on the bottom. Second, these lipsticks do have a honey nectar scent which is sweet and not too overpowering. I did not find a weird taste at all. Some find the smell offensive or to remind them of playdoh. It is all a mindset in my opinion. If  you think of it as honey nectar it may be more appealing of a scent to you. These shades are not heavy on the lips, apply opaque in one or two swipes, last at least 5 hours on the lips, are very bright and true to the tube, plus they have a bit of gloss to them.

My only complaint about these vivids is that they are so close in shade to the existing vivid's. This is a good and bad aspect. If you were not able to find the shades you wanted from the first vivids collection you are in luck and will be able to pick up a bright pink and bright orange regardless (along with two bright reds), if you can not find these shades in your local drugstore you may not be missing out if you are able to find the regular vivids (i will explain this after the swatches) I just would have liked to see more variety.

 In the Maybelline Color Goes Electric there were four new, limited edition Vivid's released. Electric Fuchsia, Orange Edge, Pop of Cherry, and Infra-Red. While all of the shades are quite comparable to the existing Vivid's it comes down to personal preference. I personally feel there are plenty of red's in the drugstore market that makes passing on Pop of Cherry and Infra-red easy for me, especially since i personally thought there were too many reds in the original vivid's. This isn't to say that Electric Fuchsia and Orange Edge are original, they come very close to the other shades. So depending on how much you like fuchsia or orange (or red) lipstick you may be able to pass on these all together, especially if they are harder to find for you.

Electric Fuchsia  is the deepest of the three and leans the most blue, Fuchsia Flash (released with the original Vivid's) is a bright fuchsia that is just a bit lighter on the skin than Electric Fuchsia but appear the exact same on the lips. Fuchsia Fever which is part of the permanent line is the lightest of the three and also not as bright. It appears just a bit less bright on the lips as compared to the first two. All three are so similar on the lips that it is hard to tell them apart.

 Electric Orange Vs. Orange Edge Vs. Vibrant Mandarin
Unlike the fuchsia shades the oranges vary just a little bit more. If you were looking for something that was a bit more red than Electric Orange but a shade that pulls just a little more orange than Vibrant Mandarin, than you should pick up Orange Edge. Most oranges pull red on me no matter what i do and i find Electric Orange from the original vivid's to be the only shade that really pulls orange, so the other two look very similar on me. On darker skin tones the change is shade is more apparent. If you have a light skin tone Orange Edge and Vibrant Mandarin might look exactly the same.

 Overall the quality is on par with the first release of the Maybelline color sensational Vivid's. If you were a big fan of those you may want to pick these up based on that alone. If you missed out on a fuchsia shade or orange shade (or red) these shades are a good opportunity for you to still get the colors you want. If you like bright bold lipsticks at an affordable price ($7 at Duane Reade) you really cant beat these!

Are you looking for glowing, dewy, skin? Look no further than Porcelain Pink Mineralized Skinfinish from MAC. Porcelain Pink is a face powder that leaves skin with a natural glow. Baked natural minerals in the colors of soft pink, cream, and hints of gold are swirled together to create the most natural look on the face. Apply this product as a highlighter, blush, or all over face powder to complete a look.

The formula isn't soft, so there wasn't much waste of product from pan to face. Because this is a mineral product it does not last all day on the face and may need one mid day reapplication. Even with this minor setback, this shade does help even the most tired of faces look brighter and more youthful.  Overall this product is good for those who would like just a dewy glow on their skin. This skinfinish offers just a minimal touch of pink, cream, and gold. If you are looking for a dupe- Wet N Wild Fergie To Reflect in Rose Campaign is a close comparison, although the latter does lack the gold sheen.

At the end of 2012 Fergie paired up with drugstore cosmetic giant Wet N Wild. This being, i believe, their second collaboration (first being the look boxes and nail polish) Wet N Wild decided to expand a bit further than the original collaboration(s). This collection included a wide range of lipsticks, polish, eyeshadow, and of course, these To Reflect Shimmer Palettes.

These palettes were first released to Walmart stores. I do not live near one so i waited patiently for them to come to my local Duane Read. They never did. In fact after waiting and checking for so long by the time i found them at Wallgreens (a mile walk away from my house) everything was sold out. I was able to purchase these on eBay (for about 3 time's their price in the store). While i love how exclusive and interesting limited edition collections are, people who live near slacking stores really miss out on the opportunity to get some great products.

What i will say about this formula is that they are very close to MAC Mineral Skin Finish. If you have been hesitant to purchase one from MAC or you did not feel they were worth the money these are excellent dupes. They are soft but not powdery, they leave a reflective glow with a hint of color on the skin, there is a nice range between highlighter to bronzer. Each one can work on all different skin tones but in different ways. These last for about 6 hours on the face but there is some fading.

The three colors that are offered are Rose Campaign Glow which is a very light soft cream color with soft pink swirled throughout. This can be used as a highlighter or as an all over skin finish on girls with lighter skin tones and can be used on darker skin tones if blended out with another color or used to soften a shade (such as Carnival In Rio). Rose Golden Goddess is a brown color swirled with cream and bronze. This shade applys a bit orange and would be good for olive skin tones and warm tan skin tones. This medium range shimmer palette can be used as a light bronzer on lighter skinned individuals and as a blush or highlighter on darker individuals. Lastly, Carnival In Rio is a tan swirled with dark chocolate brown and a greyed dark taupe. This color can apply like a warm bronzer on lighter skin, as a bronze or contour on medium skin, and as a bronzer blush on darker skin.

Overall i really did like the texture and application of this product. The simple yet versatile range of each product made them similar in quality to MAC Mineral Skin Finish. Reasonable price range.
The only downside is their availability.

Kleancolor Vibe-rant Duo Eyeliner Swatches and Review

Summer may be long over now, but my love affair with bright and beautiful cosmetics is not. I actually purchased these liners a while ago but never got the chance to feature them here. Kleancolor is an affordable brand with various products ranging from nail art to cosmetics. These Vibe-rant Duo Eyeliners are just that, vibrant. From the packaging to the applied color these shades are not meant for the meek. What first caught my eye, however, was the unique and bright packaging. These liners will stand out in your collection just as much as they will stand out on your eyes.

The top silver cap contains a pencil liner of the corresponding color of the tube. Each pencil liner applies softly and will not tug at your eyelid. One swipe is all you need for rich color. Yellow is the only shade that was a little tricky. Sometimes i only had to do a line, sometimes i had to go over it. Depending on your skin tone and how you apply you may experience various results. These liners are matte and they last about 4 hours. I sometimes use these as liners for my more outrageous shades of lipstick.

Kleancoloe Vibe-rant Duo Eyeliner

The bottom of these liners contains a liquid liner that glides on creamy and opaque with higher then expected pigmentation. These dry relatively fast and last longer on the eyes then the pencil liner. They are amazing for a nice pop of color or to create a trendy look all on their own.

For comparison i have included three of my liquid liner's from Limecrime. Currently Limecrime sells very bright and vibrant eyeliners. The shades i have used to compare is CITREUSE,
ORCHIDACEOUS, and 6th ELEMENT. These shades are a bright yellow with a green tint, a bright purple, and a bright orange. The most similar color i found was 6th Element and orange. Kleancolor is much more affordable with similar quality.

 Overall if you like bright colored cosmetics and don't like to pay top dollar when you don't have to, Kleancolor Vibe-rant Duo Eyeliner may be a good choice for you. If you use them for lining your eyes or your lips, these highly pigmented liners are a fun addition to any makeup collection.

Wet N Wild Where's The Party Review, Swatches, and Dupes

Limited Edition- the most tempting combination of words if there ever was. Wet N Wild has released a collection of palettes for their limited edition collection Where's The Party. I have to say, while my drugstore is amazing, i do love you Duane Reade, it does not always have what i am looking for in terms of Limited Edition collections. I searched far and wide for these. I went to every drugstore in my area including Walgreen's, Rite Aid, CVS, and Duane Reade. My local CVS no longer carries any Wet N Wild and told me to check out NYC Color to which i cocked my head to the side in disbelief before walking out. Needless to say i wasn't getting my hands on these. So i called in some favors from some out of state friends who were able to find these for me and send them. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Anyway, the theme of these palettes seems to be bright, bold, matte, glitter, shimmer, drama! Which is pretty perfect for a party look! The only palette that seemed out of place to me was Sparkle 'Til Morning. This palette, while beautiful, seems like more of a summer palette. With warm bronzey colors and a touch of turquoise it made me think of the beach. No really on season if you live in the north, but it is great for those who live in the southern states or warmer areas. Overall the qaulity of these palettes is exactly what you would expect from Wet N Wild. Some of these shades have fall out but the pigmentation is fantastic. The matte shades deliver the best pigmentation and the more shimmery colors can be a little crumbly. I found certain shades like the matte white to feel and look just a tiny bit chalky. For $5 dollars a palette though you cant really complain over the little things like that. As with all the Wet N Wild Palettes there is a guide as to where each shade should go for a complete look, but you can always do your own or mix and match.

Shimmer The Night Away
This palette is pretty versatile. Since a smokey eye is universally flattering on almost everyone the inclusion of a white to black gradient on the left side was a great decision. The micro silver glitter in the bottom black adds just the right amount of sparkle without being overly glittery. The crease shade is a bit of a greyed silver and has a pearlesq finish while the silver (eyelid) is a little more metallic. The brow bone white also has a bit of a pearlesq finish.  On the right side there is a gradient from a pinky mauve down to an indigo/violet. The indigo/violet shade has a bit of sparkle in it with some micro silver glitter (similar to the black) while the crease and eyelid shade have a bit of a pearl finish. The mauve brow bone shade is a soft semi matte.  Since purple is still trending in many higher end makeup brands such as MAC, Lancome, and even Chanel. You can get the higher end look with a much cheaper price tag. These shades all blend well together and whether you use the shades all from one side, the other, or mix, you can create a stunning look for a party or otherwise. I found over primer these shadows can last a good 5 hours.

 The pink, eyelid, shade from the right side of this palette is the same color as the pink eyelid shade from I'm Feeling Retro.

 The gray/black crease shade on the left side of the palette along with the silver eyelid shade are the same crease and eyelid color from Don't Steal My Thunder.

 The glittery black definer shade from the left side of this palette is the same as the crease shade in the Spoiled Brat palette.

 While i wasn't able to match them all i do hope this helps you if you are unable to find this palette.


 Drinking A Glass of Shine-
This one has to be my favorite of the three. The magic word when it comes to makeup, aside from limited edition, is matte. You tell me its matte and i pretty much hand you my credit card and walk away. These shades are so pigmented they rival my MAC and YSL. They are comparable to Coastal Scents Matte Palette, but this is of course cheaper ($5). I love how this palette, like the one above, offers a bright look and a more neutral look. I feel it allows for more looks. Sometimes when i am heading off to class, though i want to look fabulous, layering on three different bright colors at 4am really doesn't always go over well. So it is nice to be able to choose the nude as a lid color with a crease of the bright blue blending out to the deep violet. For all other occasions though such as a night out with the girls, a fun party, or even just going for a trendy look, these colors are perfectly paired. On the right the bright, white can come off a little chalky when applied but it isn't a deal breaker. The rich green, cerulean blue, and violet purple all apply evenly. Since these are matte they are a little harder then the other colors, which leads them to have little to no fallout. I find these shades work well on their own and combined. On the right there are more neutral colors that range from a light tan to a rich chocolate brown. A blended natural eye look can be created or smokey brown eye. These shades blend effortlessly together and their pigmentation is amazing. Even when applied over bare skin, these had high pigmentation, for a longer lasting look though, use a primer.

 While i loved this palette, i wasn't really able to dupe it. If you like bright matte colors, please check out this palette from Coastal Scents.


 Sparkle 'Til Morning-
If you love the way this palette looks you will be happy to know this is also the most dupable. The shades of this palette are very bronze, very metallic with the exception of the pop of turquoise. I don't know about you but i love turquoise (could be because i am native American...). Such a bright shade that can make any eye look pop. The left side contains a creamy soft white taupe, a light tan, a copper shade, and turquoise. These all have a bit of a pearl finish aside from the crease, copper, which is a little more metallic. On the left the shades range from a soft pinky nude, a metallic soft bronze, a light tan, and a rich brown that has gold micro glitter. All of these shades blend together nicely. This palette is a little softer then the others so be careful not to press too hard. This palette had a little bit of fallout but it wasn't major. The pigmentation was high but it was better over a primer. These colors remind me of chocolate and champagne now that i think of it, so while i still feel they are kind of beachy i can now see how they work for the party theme.

Right Side Dupes-
The brow bone color on the right side is the same color as the eyelid color in Walking on Eggshells, while the eyelid color on the ride side of this palette is similar to crease color in the Walking on Eggshells palette. It is not as metallic.

The eyelid shade from the right side of the palette and the definer shade from the right side of this palette are the exact same colors as the eyelid color and crease color (respectively) from the I'm Getting Sunburned palette.

Left Side Dupes-
If you really liked the left side of this palette, you are in luck! Both Maybelline and Black Radiance offer these same exact colors in palette form.

 

 Wet N Wild Sparkle 'Till Morning vs. Black Radiance Moroccan Mix

 The left side is Wet N Wild, while the right side is Moroccan Mix. The colors are identical aside from the first shade which is a little more pigmented in Black Radiance.


 Wet N Wild Sparkle 'Till Morning vs. Maybelline Irresistibly Ivy

 The left is Wet N Wild and the right is Maybelline. As you can see the shades are slightly different in the Maybelline palette. The first two shades are identical. The turquoise shade in the Maybelline palette is a little darker and the final shade is a darker brown than the middle copper included in the Wet N Wild. They both deliver a similar look.

 Overall, if you like inexpensive, highly pigmented, bright, fun colors with a neutral option thrown in, then these palettes are a good choice for you. They are very easy to work with, last long when worn over primer, and have minimal fallout. The biggest downside is these are hard to find.
