Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation Review

Recently i was picked by Influenster to test the new Rimmel London Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation. I received this product complimentary for reviewing and testing purposes. When i do my make up i tend to think of having a shiny face, or rather an oily face, as something to avoid at all costs. A product that promises to work as a foundation while keeping my skin fresh, and matte? Well i had to give that a try!

 The packaging is quite simple, squeeze out product. The coverage is about medium but it really works well as a base for more complex looks or on its own for more minimal looks. I like that it feels light but still covers pores and gives me an almost air brushed look. While you can apply a setting powder you really don't need it. This product doesn't settle into fine lines or wrinkles of the face.

I created this look using the Stay Matte Liquid Mousse Foundation. I kept it very simple and minimalistic. I love how i can achieve the no makeup, makeup look. Stay Matte made my skin look even and smooth. Its no photoshop, but it does a good job of making any imperfections of the face become hidden. I applied Rimmel London Scandaleyes in Retro Glam to my eyes to complete the look and you can add a little gloss if you'd like!

Overall i am quite impressed. I am very used to having to wear a primer, foundation, and setting powder to achieve a look close to this. One product and done is helpful for those who like a minimal routine in the morning but is also good for those who like to also wear blush, highlighter, and do a contour. You wont have that caked on look since your base is so minimal.

Schwarzkopf Bonacure Hair Therapy Oil Potion Light Finishing Treatment and Finishing Treatment Review

Recently, I was the lucky winner of the Schwarzkopf brand challenge on Influenster.com. I received my prize just in time for the beginning of the harsh weather. Bonacure Hair Therapy Oil Potion Finishing Treatments in Light and Regular help the repair hair, make it feel smooth, and make it completely shiny. I used this product mainly on my ends of my hair but also combed it into my hair from the middle down. I saw results instantly and lasting results all week. This product is a great weekly treatment. The Light Finishing Treatment is great for the middle of my hair and even on my roots while the regular treatment did wonders for my split ends looked. I seriously felt like one of those hair models in commercials with how shiny my hair looks when i use this. It is also good to mention that these bottles are shaped stylishly, and though they are small, a tiny drop goes a long way.

Overall if you are looking for something that repairs and makes you look like you have beautiful and manageable hair look no further. Schwarzkopf may be hard to say but their products work even harder!

Palmolive Fresh Infusions Review

Recently i had a pretty nice opportunity to try a new dish washing liquid. Since i am a mom i am a bit dedicated to keeping my house clean, this of course includes the ever piling up stack of dishes. My hands are often dry and often smell like whatever dish soap i have under the sink. It is not very attractive to say the least. So when i saw i was picked by Influenster  to try this product complimentary, not just one but two (PLUS ONE FOR A FRIEND!), i was a bit excited.

Palmolive Fresh Infusions is a brand of dish washing liquid that comes in three fresh scents Lime Basil, Lemon Thyme, & Ginger White Tea. These scents smell fresh, soft, and unique. Its like if a specialty soap store stopped making some body wash and started making dish washing liquid this is what you would get. While i did love all the scents, my favorite was Lime Basil. Soft citrus mixed with earthly basil appealed the most to me. I felt Palmolive Fresh Infusions Lime Basil was not over powering on my skin, did not dry out my hands, made my dishes smell clean and best of all the scent did not make me smell like i had been doing dishes for 20 minuets. In fact i liked how my hands smelt after having done the dishes.

For my friend, i gave her Ginger White Tea. She also has children so she was able to appreciate a product  that not only could tackle dishes but smelled great at the same time. She likened the scent to that of an aroma therapy candle she has. I can't say i agree or not since i never smelled that candle but i was happy that she enjoyed not only scent but also the bottle shape and cleaning power.

Palmolive Fresh Infusions First Impressions

So, not to long ago i received an opportunity to try a new dish washing liquid from Influenster. When i was chosen i found out it was Palmolive Fresh Infusions. I have to be honest, i have NEVER tried this product before. I have used Palmolive and liked it in the past but this is entirely new!

When i first received my box i smelled each and every scent. Some were leaking but it wasn't extreme or anything to really complain about. I loved how each one really did smell fresh and didn't outright smell of dish washing liquid. Like i wouldn't mind using these as a hand soap or having my hands smell like this product after cleaning a sink of dirty dishes.

Of the three scents that i received i liked the Lime Basil the best. I found it had the best scent in terms that it smelt the freshest. I liked how it had a light citrus scent and how it was not strong and over powering.

I look forward to testing these products and will have an updated blog soon with more detailed information on cleaning power, effects on the hands, and how much is needed!

Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Review

Recently i got to try a product i always wanted to try, but for some reason never did, Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream and Cleansing lotion. I have heard a lot of hype about this brand and was really starting to wonder if these products were just all hype or really just that worth it. I learned they really are worth it!

I have always cleaned my face with facial scrubs, makeup remover towelettes and sometimes just soap. I always found these to get the job done. I never really thought of using lotion to clean my skin (though as a kid my grandmother always told me to use cold cream). After applying this product to my skin i understood what my grandmother had been suggesting. Using this lotion to cleanse makeup off your face is so gentle so soft, so moisturizing, and so easy without the worry of splashing water everywhere or worrying about getting soap in my eye. I rubbed this over my whole face and gently on my eye lids and mascara area. I then used a dry cotton ball to remove and all my makeup was gone and my face felt clean. I wont lie, i did then use soap in the shower, but i did feel it was as abrasive on my skin.

After my showers, i usually apply various toners, anti-wrinkle creams, eye creams, serums, and moisturizers. I applied everything as i normally do but as a last step i choose Boots No7 Beautiful Skin Night Cream and i didn't have to apply my toner or my serum. I felt that, even though this product has somewhat of a thin consistency, i was able to really feel it adhering to my skin. I felt my skin becoming softer and i felt it being slightly damp. Not wet or uncomfortable, somewhat like after a shower and you dry your face but it still feels moist, like that. When i woke up in the morning i felt my face as very soft. I felt like i didn't even have to use a  makeup base or BB cream (and i didn't!). It was nice to have a more natural looking face due to one simple step the night before. That really does save some time in the morning.

- Works with your skin not against it like some moisturizers. It replaces the moisture your skin has lost and you are left only with healthy and radiant skin, no layer of film like some moisturizers.

Bath & Body Works Fall Mini Candle in White Barn Review

There is nothing i love more about fall then the scents of fall. Pumpkin, apple, spice, warmth, pine, etc. I love it and always tend to stock up on products with these scents. So when i opened my Beauty Blogger Voxbox and instantly smelled something fall themed and spicy i got excited. The smell, just from opening the box, was amazing. It wasn't overpowering or too strong though, just right, like the Goldylocks of scents.

Once i realized that this scent was coming from a Bath and Body Works candle i was no longer surprised. Bath and Body Works has always impressed me with their aromatic candles. I could just nod and say, once again, well done! The scent i received was White Barn No. 1 Nutmeg and Spice. This fall, slightly nutty and spicy, scent when burned made my whole apartment smell like i had been baking some spiced pie or spiced cookies! Needless to say when i had company they were let down to find out there were no baked goods but surprized that such a little candle packed such a great scent!

The best way to use this candle is to place it in a central room in your house or apartment and let it make a parameter of great scent around you. Place it low on a coffee table, end table, kitchen table, or even a tv stand! Hot air rises and your house will fill with scent faster if it is lower to the ground. I like to burn these in the evening when the lights are low so i can relax by it but it is also good to light in the afternoon to have your house smelling fantastic by evening. Placing it in a decorative candle holder also makes it look even more festive!

NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact in Dark Shadows Review

So if you have been with me since the beginning of my blog you should know i am no stranger to showing love for both high end and drugstore products. Browsing drugstore products can sometimes be a gamble. Will the color payoff be good? How about pigmentation? Will this product last? Will it be high quality?  Lots of factors to consider. One company that has had consistently great products with amazing quality for their price is NYC - New York Color.

New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compacts (which you may have noticed i have reviewed before in different colors here!) are all in one, all you need, to create a full eye look. This product includes a primer, an illuminator, applicator and four soft complimentary shadows.

While the shadows are soft they blend very easily. Their pigmentation is good. The primer great for the price and brings out the pigmentation in the shadows even more when they are layered on it. The illuminator makes the shades brighter and is great to apply under the brow to brighten the look. Both the illuminator and the primer are cream so you can use your fingers to apply for a smaller foundation/cover up brush. Using the shadows over the primer will allow the shadows to last for about 5 hours without creasing. If you are a bit of novice in terms of applications there is a how to on the back of the package and one below, scroll down to see. This product is a great starter product and introduction to makeup, since it requires so little in addition for a complete look. You can use all the shadows together or use them one at a time. These shades can be used to make a smokey eye look or just a light look with a dark, dramatic crease. You really have so many options with this palette.

There are a few cons. Since the shadows are soft (which isn't a bad thing) you should be careful when pressing your applicator (or brush) into them. Another small con is that because they are soft there is some fall out. Have a blending sponge handy or a fan brush, or even just a tissue to wipe up any that may land on your cheek. Since both the primer base and the illuminator are cream they are prone to having the shadow dust off into them. What you can do is take a small piece of plastic wrap and cover them when using the shadows. This palette is a little fragile so don't carry it in your purse, you really wont need touch up's anyway!

How to create a quick blended look:
Not pictured- apply your primer to your lid and lend it out to right under the brow.
Top to bottom, left side
Step 1- Apply the second shade to your lid and make sure to stop right before you reach your crease. Make sure to pat on gently. You can use your applicator or an eyeshadow brush. 
Step 2- Fill in your crease with the third shade. applying from the inner corner out. Then blend with a soft back and forth motion
Step 3- Apply the first color under the arch of the brow and blend with a back and forth motion with the crease.

Top to bottom, right side.
Step 4- Apply the fourth and darkest color to the fold of the outer crease blending vertically to define the eye and make the shadow dramatic (if you want you can omit this step if you feel it is too dark on your eye, or use it only as a night look.
Step5- use the darkest color as an eye liner both above and under the eye (you can layer liquid liner over it and add mascara if you would like
Step 6- you're done!

If you would like to add even more drama you can always use the third color as your lid color and blend out the crease with the fourth color, and still using the first color as your under brow high lighter. This would make a very dramatic smokey eye!

These are quick and easy looks that should only take about 5 minuets to make.

Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin Review

I know i usually post about cosmetics but this product deserves a spot on this blog. During the summer i decided to buy Goody Simple Styles Spin Pins because i thought they would be an easy and simple way to style my hair without using chunky butterfly beautician clips. I have thin hair that doesn't always keep a style so i was pretty desperate for a good product. Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin delivered.

When i received my Beauty Blogger Vox Box i was very pleased to see this product since i had already given it my seal of approval. All summer long i was able to do beautiful up do's, messy and neat buns, and even double buns with minimal work and all day style even in humid weather. Goody Simple Style Spin Pins kept my hair up even when it was wet from the being in the pool or at the beach.

Now that it is fall i am pleased to say that this product is perfect! I am on the north east coast and our Autumn's and Winter's can be a little harsh on hair styles. Gusting wind and raining slush, not a help to most styles. With these Spin Pins no mater the gust of wind or rain my bun remains.

To use Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin is simple. Forget rubber bands, bobby pins, or clips. Simply wrap your hair into a messy (or neat) bun and twist (close to your scalp) the first pin through the right side of the top of the bun and the second pin (close to your scalp) through the bottom left side Make sure they do not twist into each other or they may get stuck and thats it! If you want spray a little hair spray or prior to twisting add a little moose, styling gel, or leave in conditioner (depending on your hair type). If you want to get creative you can always try tying a ribbon around your bun, attaching a flower to a side bun, or make a braid before applying your Spin Pins for a braided bun.

When you are ready to remove your Spin Pin's simply twist out slowly and that's it!

Kiss Ever PRO Lash Starter Kit Review

Drama, drama, drama! And no i do not mean high school girls or reality tv! I am talking false lashes! The easiest way to get your eyes looking dramatic is to have thick, full, long lashes. If you are like me, you might not have been blessed with thick long lashes. So what to do? You can try voluminous mascaras or lash growing formulas, or you can just pick up Kiss Ever Pro Lash Starter Kit. I would recommend the latter.

Kiss Ever Pro Lash Starter Kit includes everything you will need for dramatic and full lashes. Even though product name says PRO, you do not need to be a Pro to apply these. With a hot pink, easy grip, lash tweezers, you can easily grasp the lashes to either put them on, or take them off.  I started to fret that they would be hard to remove from the plastic but there are slits that just perfectly lifts them up for easy grasping (i love companies that pay close attention to details!).

With Kiss Ever Pro Lash Starter Kit you don't even need to buy glue. You receive a generous amount of 24 hour flexible hold strip eyelash adhesive(13 g) . I liked that i was able to rub my eye (gently) and not have to worry about these lashes just popping off. So if you have slight allergies, or just tend to rub your eyes you wont have to worry as much about these lashes. I can't say for sure if it lasted 24 hours, but i did take a nap while my son was asleep and woke up with these lashes in tact. That made me exceptionally happy.

As for how to use Kiss Ever PRO Last Starter Kit you simply use your tweezers to gently lift the lashes from the plastic. Make sure to bend the plastic up so they are easier to remove. Once removed add a thin line of glue. Let sit for about 60 seconds until the lash glue is no longer white.  Gently use your lash tweezers to lift from the lash corner and apply over makeup or bare eye lids starting from the outside of the lash and going in. press gently and apply eye liner, or leave as as.

I am sorry if my eyes look very tired in these pictures, i was very exhausted. I had these lashes on all day and then took the picture. I felt this would give the most honest and realistic results. As you can see they are in tact and very full.

What i really loved? They did not feel heavy on my lashes. They were easy to remove with some makeup remover. They are reusable. They stay put all day. They were easy to apply.

Just a few tips
-Make sure to put them up to your eye to make sure they fit your lid, if not you can cut the excess off if too long, or place closer to the outer corner of the eye if they are too short.
-If you have trouble applying them straight, i recommend holding your lid straight and then applying. It prevents tugging on skin that may be scrunched up under it.
-If you are having trouble removing them, q-tips with a tiny drop of mild soap and warm water help to loosen the glue and don't damage the lashes.

Even though these are dramatic they aren't too wild. You can wear them to work, school, anywhere you please. I like to wear them to go to school, or run errands. If i am too lazy to do a whole look, placing some dramatic lashes can sometimes be all i need to look my best. You would be surprised at how much of a change these lashes can make to your beauty routine.

NYC New York Color IndividualEyes Custom Compact in Dark Shadows-
I love this compact. As you may have seen in one of my past posts (click here!), i am absolutely in love with these. NYC New York Color has really outdone themselves once more.This all in one compact really is everything you need for the perfect eye look. First apply the eye primer to the lid and the illuminator to under your brow. Apply the second shade for your lid color, the third for your crease, the first for your brow and use the last to define the outer corner and use as a liner! Put on some mascara and you are done! The shades are highly pigmented so your smokey look will really stand out. There is a little bit of fall out with the third shade so have a fan brush or a small makeup sponge handy to brush away the fall out. It is the only shade that was a little too soft. There are directions on the back so you can do it as i have mentioned, as the back shows, or make your own unique look! I love how coordinated this set is and each color compliments the others. This is a drugstore must have, and at $4.99 you really can pick them all up! I will be posting a tutorial on how to make a complete eye look within a few days!

Bath and Body Works Mini Candles-
Do you love the smell of fall? If you do these are perfect for your house. Not only do they look adorable and are the smaller versions of the larger three wick candles, but they are highly aromatic. I received White Barn nut meg and spices. I smelled it as i was opening the box and thought for a moment, did influenster send me a baked good? Once i saw it was a candle i was shocked! It wasn't an over powering or unpleasant scent it was strong but in a really good way. Once i lit it my entire house (apartment, but it is pretty big) was filled with the warm smell of this spicy fall favorite. It smelled as if i had been cooking gingerbread cookies, or was making a delicious spiced pumpkin pie! (But more the spice of it not the pumpkin smell). These are a must have home decor item for fall. Stock up at Bath and Body works for $3.50 for the mini's and $20 for the large three wick candles.

Not Your Mothers Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream-
I am still scratching my head over this one. If influenster is always looking at what their member do like their videos and what not, wouldn't they know i have straight hair that is minimally wavy? I mean its super long there is no missing it! I wrote to Not Your Mother on Facebook asking for how to use this product on straight hair and there is no use. I read that it can help to eliminate frizz and fly-ways. So i figured maybe that would help me with those problems but it simply made me look like i put grease in my hair. I hope this works better on the people that it is intended for.

The night cream, suitable for normal to dry skin, is a great facial cream. I used this product before i went to bead and my face felt soft an moisturized when i woke up. The cleansing lotion felt great in the morning. It eliminated my need to use toners which was nice. My medicine cabinet is stacked with products and it was nice to have a product that eliminated another while still moisturizing my face. These products are hypo-allergenic and together made me feel like i had a soft and smooth face. I wore it under my regular BB cream and even when i removed my daily makeup my face was still soft (never oily). I have an oily T zone and this did not exacerbate the problem which was nice!

As a cosmeholic, i own every type of cosmetic that you can imagine. The one thing i own but never use are false lashes. While they look so beautiful i never can apply them correctly. I get glue all over my hand, they mess up my eye makeup as i am applying them, they fall off my eyelid, apply lopsided, i could go on about how bad i am at applying fake lashes. When i first opened up my Bride to Be Vox Box 2012, i was equally impressed with each item but i found the Kiss everEZlashes to be the most relevant. What makes these lashes so special? Well for starters they have little red strings on each side of each lash to make applying the glue and fixating these lashes to your lid and easy and simple task. Simple take the lash by the strings and apply a thin line of glue. This glue is no drip and has a no mess applicator so don't worry about getting glue everywhere. After about 60 seconds all you need to do is hold the strings taught and apply from the outer corer to the inner corner of your upper lashes. Once applied simply remove the strings by sliding them out. Super simple!

Tips: Watch out for strings, getting glue on the string area will make them hard to pull out. Apply makeup before applying these lashes but you can hold off on the eye liner until after these are applied. To remove use an oil based makeup remover. These are simple to apply and simple to remove. If you are a novice at applying fake lashes this is a must have.

Heads up though- keep this product out of reach of children, take caution if you are pregnant or breast feeding, use in moderation or this product can have laxative effects.

My recommendation: Always have a box in your purse so you can reach for a piece when needed. You never know when you might need to just chill out. If you have addictions such as smoking- this will help to ease your mind and cravings during the quitting process (i gave one to my friend who was quitting and it helped her calm down and eased her urges). Great to chew before bed if you have a hard time sleeping. This will help relax you into a restful sleep and is a much better option then sleeping pills.
