Julep Add On's August 2012 Kim, Piper, Sienna Review and Swatches

This month (even though we are still in July) I received my Julep Maven box add on's before my Maven box. Wait whats a Maven box? Well its a subscription box that comes to your door every month filled with nail polishes and more! Does that sound awesome? You can sign up here and try your first box for only 1 penny! Use promo code PENNY.

The theme of this months box is metallic! This goes hand and hand with the Olympics which is pretty cute. I will talk more about my box when it comes in.

I love the idea of, even though there are differnt box options, you can choose extra colors from extra boxes for only $4.99 each as add on's. It's a steep discount and you can check out the colors that you weren't getting, or were iffy on.

Sienna, Piper, Kim
I love the continuous attention to detail that is always given when Julep ships. The confetti packaging always seems to match in some way.

The fact that Julep names the polish after female figures is very inspiring.

Kim:
From afar it looks really nice but close up you can see flecks of blue glitter just faintly. I like how this shade is almost black without being black. The ribbons of metallic shimmer transfer well from bottle to nail.

Sienna:
I officially love this color.  It applies so evenly and is so shimmery. It is the perfect light gold!

 Piper:
This shade i wasn't too thrilled about. After two coats i still could not achieve an even or opaque coverage. I like the color, i just don't like how it applies. Maybe if applied over a white base this shade would work better.

I can't wait to receive my actual maven box so that i can share those shades and extras as well!

Covergirl Blastflipstick Lipstick in Stunner, Minx, Tease, and Flashy

With all the raving ive been doing i thought id mix things up and tell you guys about a product i absolutely hate. A product i wanted to like, thought i would like, but disappointed me in every way a product can disappoint.

Covergirl's Blastflip Lipsticks are two in one bendable lipsticks. Colors ranging from bright gold to shimmery purple. Sounds awesome right? Untill you take into account that they are drying, burn sensitive skin, dye the skin, and are way too soft in texture (this last statement may be a little bias). Not to mention the advertisements were not incredibly accurate. I looked forward to creating the ombre lip look of gold and red as shown in the advertisement, however, the lipstick is too soft to stay separate for more than a minute. It was also advertised that when combine the two shades will make a new shade or a different shade, yet most times there was no change. When retracting the lipstick it does not go all the way down so you have to be very careful closing these or you will nick the side of the lipstick. If left on the lips for more than 10 minutes your lips will be dyed.

L-R (Sheer, bold, mixed) Flashy, Tease, Minx, Stunner

L-R (Sheer, bold, mixed) Flashy, Tease, Minx, Stunner
As you can see Minx and stunner have minimal change, whereas flashy and tase only have a bit of frost added.

Compare with advertisement:

I could only recreate the orange gold one with the actual products.

I like the colors, i like the idea, i just wish it lived up to its promises and didn't have so many negative draw backs.

Revlon Colorburst Lip butter in Strawberry Shortcake, Cherry Tart, Peach Parfait, Lollipop, and Gumdrop Review and Swatches

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters in Strawberry Shortcake, Cherry Tart, Gum Drop, Lollipop, and Peach Parfait

Ugh, I wanted to hate this product. Why? Because i thought that this was yet another tinted lip balm that was over priced, under pigmented, and too wet feeling. I was completely wrong.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters look like a lip balm, feels like a lipstick, look like a lip gloss when applied, and are packed in cute quilt cut plastic tubes. Can these get any more perfect? I personally don't like the feel of lip gloss. I have tried to jump on the bandwagon and get used to it but i cant. So to be able to achieve the gloss look while using a balm that feels like a lipstick makes me a very happy Cosmeholic!

Clear top to allow you to see the color!
On another note, this collection ranges from sheer to opaque and they can be layered. Apply more for a deeper color, and less for just a hint. They take about a minuet to appear glossy on the lips so don't be dishearten if it doesn't appear glossy right away. The feel on the lips is smooth, lipstick like, even when it looks glossy. It is not sticky, gloppy, or wet feeling. It feels very light, like a mix between lipstick and chap stick depending on how much you apply.

These are avilable in most drugstores and online at Drugstore, and Walgreens.

Time for swatches!

My one complaint about this product?
This product will go every fast, after one use there was noticeable difference. It looks like I've used it for a few days.

Sinful Colors Professional in Unicorn

Sinful Colors Professional Unicorn
Sinful colors is a drugstore indulgence. Super cheap, with a wide selection. Bought out by revlon, yet still maintain their price and selection. Love it!

This is a buttery light cream yellow shade. It applies evenly and is opaque in two coats. When applied with a top coat they will minimally chip. I feel this would make a great accent nail color, or even a funky yellow french tip! They are currently on sale at Walgreens for $1 a bottle!

MAC Heavenly Creature Mineralize Eye Shadow in Earthly, Aurora, and Universal Appeal

This is my third and final installment of the MAC Heavenly Creature Mineralize Eyeshadow review and swatches. If you are interested in my review or swatches of the other colors of this collection click here for Bright Moon, Water, and Sky, or here for Neo Nebula, Invincible Light, and Magnetic Attraction.

Earthly-
This is a great stand alone shadow. It contains taupe, brown, and gold. It is very natural looking. Since it is swirled with both taupe and brown any skin color can be matched by blending. This means you can make a perfectly natural look with adding a touch of gold, or a slight smoky look adding a touch of brown. You can create contrast and drama as well. Apply wet or over primer for drama and dry over lids for shimmer.

Aurora-
This shadow contains a brick red, pinkish taupe, brown, and a hint of gold. This is another natural shade that I think would suit a large range of skin tones. This is another all in one shadow. You have a lid color, crease color, under brow, and outer corner. How you play with it and your skin color determine where each goes, but hey remember there are no real rules in makeup. Apply wet or dry.

Universal Appeal
This shadow combines an old idea in a new way. Anyone who has taken a basic art class knows complimentary colors.. compliment each other. Red/green, blue/orange, and lastly, purple/yellow. All these combos create the best contrast. Not to mention that adding one to the other will create brown, always. Ok art lesson over. Companies for some time now have been combining purple and yellow but Mac has done it a little differntly. Since these colors are swirled together with a metallic base. You can use purple, yellow, dark burgundy (red metallic- base) or swirl it up for a shimmery brown. This is very versatile and can be combine with Neo Nebula, Invincible Light, Aurora, Earthly, even Magnetic Attraction. This shade can blend anyway you want it to. So if you have the other shades, or you just picked up this one I hope your having fun with all the color combinations.
