Maybelline Color Goes Electric Color Sensational Lip Gloss Review and Swatches

Do you eve just wish you could find a decent drugstore (or any type!) of lip gloss that was more than a beautiful color in the tube but clear on the lips? I wish this more often than i care to admit and most times it is the reason i will pass on lip gloss all together. When i saw Maybelline's Color Goes Electric Color Sensational Lip Gloss in Mirrored Plum (bright purple) and how smooth and pigmented it was,  i was so impressed i had to go back and get them all!

The formula overall of these glossy is non sticky, does not bleed, does not settle into lines, applies evenly, and has only a light sent. Mostly opaque and semi opaque shades. 2-3 hours of wear with light eating and drinking. Many of these shades feel more like a light liquid lipstick rather than a gloss because of their high pigmentation. Applies with a doe foot applicator.

Knock Out Pearl- A sheer shimmer lavender pink gloss with a pearlesq finish. While this shade is the sheerest of the six it still has great pigmentation. Even on pigmented lips it lightens and has a nice shimmer. The shimmer is not glittery though and feels smooth on the lips. Great on its own, layered over lipstick, or liner. Goes well over most pink lipsticks or Maybelline Vivid Shocking Coral.
Mirrored Plum- Bright purple. This gloss is semi-opaque. Shiny and glossy this shade has enough color to stand on its own on bare lips. Also looks great layered over Maybelline Vivids Brazen Berry and Hot Plum.
Striking Peach- Sheer shimmer peach gloss with a pearlesq finish. This shade is also a bit sheer but still gives a lot of coverage on the lips. Lightens gives a nice smooth peach color to the lips. Can be applied over shades like Maybelline Vivids Electric Orange or Orange Edge or on its own.

Punch Of Pink- Creamy baby pink. This gloss is a full coverage without any shimmer. This shade settles slightly into the lines of the lips but only after about an hour of wear. Great to apply over Maybelline Vivids Pink Pop.
Riveting Rose- Bright fuchsia pink this shade is almost completely opaque. Is enough to wear on its own and applies very bright. This shade really does pop on the lips. Great to also wear over Maybelline Vivids Vivid Rose
Fiercely Fuchsia- Bright Fuchsia pink with violet iridescent. There is a light bit of shimmer. This color is very similar to Riveting Rose but the only difference is the slight violet reflection. This shade is great over Maybelline Vivids Fuchsia Flash.

Overall if you are looking for a gloss that packs a lot of pigment or even just a gloss that will cover your lips without settling into fine lines, bleeding, or feeling sticky this is a great choice. At only $7.99 each with above drugstore quality these feel like a steal. The only downside is that these are limited edition and can be hard to find.

Maybelline Color Goes Electric Blush in Wild Blossom, Golden Fuse, and Coral Burst Review and Swatches

Maybelline Color Goes Electric Blush in Wild Blossom, Golden Fuse, and Coral Burst
Have you seen the new Limited Edition collection from Maybelline? Color Goes Electric features on trend bright, bold, and vivid colors inspired by New York Fashion week Spring 2013. Something you normally wouldn't expect from a drugstore brand but Maybelline finally gets what a large majority of ladies want! This collection includes some beautiful new Vivid Lipsticks, Blushes, Polishes, Quads, and even Glosses that rival MAC! So are you ready for some pop's of color?
Maybelline Color Goes Electric Blush in Wild Blossom, Golden Fuse, and Coral Burst
There are three limited edition blushes from Maybelline Color Goes Electric. Each blush has a baked formula. What impressed me most is for a drugstore brand these blushes were neither too soft or too hard and had minimal fallout. The pigmentation was over and beyond what i expected to see as well. They are quite small and you must be easy opening the top. Sometimes the top sticks and makes dropping these or chipping the blush easy. While i think these colors would be universally flattering on any skin tone, some may not be as daring. As a guide i would suggest that Wild Blossom might look better on lighter skin tones, Golden Fuse would look great on a medium or tan skin tone, and Coral Burst might look best on tan to darker colored tone. Either way these  shades can be built up or blended out. I got about 6 hours of wear on the cheek but i did prime my face and applied foundation under it. Each shade has a bit of a frosty finish with Golden Fuse having the most. These shades are limited edition and can be found in most drugstores for about $7.

Here i am wearing Wild Blossom on my cheeks, Golden Fuse to highlight on my nose, chin, and forehead, along with wearing Maybelline Color Goes Electric Vivid's in Electric Fuchsia. On my eyes i am wearing Going in the Wild by Wet n Wild.

Overall these blushes are high quality at a great brand. The ability to blend them out or build them up makes them versatile for bold looks and also looks with just a pop of color. Universally flattering but also a shade for every skin tone. Great formula with minimal fallout. The only downside is these shades are limited edition. Check out the Maybelline website here!

Jasmine The Palace Jewel Compact Mirror Review

Jasmine The Palace Jewel Compact Mirror

Of all of the cosmetics pieces in the Sephora Disney Jasmine collection The Palace Jewel Compact Mirror is one of the prettiest. While it is not technically a cosmetic product it fits right in with the line. From pattern to color theme, this sleek, elegant, collectable compact is a diamond in the ruff.

Jasmine The Palace Jewel Compact Mirror
The packaging on this product is a bright fuchsia with the compact clearly visible through the clear plastic. The top opening of the box features a quite from the movie Aladdin "Made you look". The mirror is safely placed into a black fitted foam making it easy to travel with. The bar code on the back features the scene of Agrahba.

The compact itself is mainly bright yellow gold. It opens with the push of a button located on the side. The top features an intricate design  of gold leading to the middle lamp. There are two lamps one reflected against the other. There are pops of aqua in the design as well. Under this golden pattern there is a scene of Agrahba in purple against a pink sky. The inside mirror features the quote "Shut your eyes and take a chance". There are two mirrors within the compact. I would have loved to see a beauty powder in this compact but i do like the idea of just a simple mirror. This compact, while just a mirror, is too gorgeous to pass up. I missed out on Cinderellas mirror (still want to get my hands on it!, if anyone is willing to sell theirs, let me know!)

Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette Review and Swatches

Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette
Was the Sephora Disney Jasmine Storybook Palette Vol. 2 just a little too big for you? Looking for something just a bit more compact? Or just want a beautifully packaged quad to add to your collection, well get ready to take a ride on a magic carpet with the Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride eyeshadow palette.

Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette
This mini palette comes in a cream colored box. Both the front and back feature a framed bright fuchsia background. On the front we can see Jasmine and Aladdin are sounded by a golden moon and outlined leaves. On the back we can see the names of each color along with a preview of that color in the shape of magic carpet. The bar code also features magic carpet. The side of the box has the quote "Shut your eyes and take a chance".

The palette itself is just a bit smaller than the box it comes in. The front of the palette features a gorgeous scene inspired by the Disney movie Aladdin. Jasmine and Aladdin are ridding off into the sunset (even though it was night when they took their trip in the movie). You can see their silhouettes against the gold moon (which the natural light in my house in illuminating). In the background behind golden creme clouds is the Palace of Agrahba. A diamond pattern is placed over the whole background image which looks like a pattern on a carpet. The attention to detail on this one image is amazing. There is a small lamp on the left corner and the whole image is outlined by a fuchsia border with a golden pattern, bright blue fish in the corners, and a back outer boarder with slightly curved golden tips (like Jasmines shoe). Just wow! The back features the name and location of the colors in this palette.

Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette

Once you open this palette you see that the plastic is an off white color with a golden platted base for the pans of the shadow. On the mirror there is a small quote on the bottom which reads "Shut your eyes and take a chance". Included are two applicators- one side with a sponge tip and the other a brush tip. The shades are arrange with the lighter shades on the left side while the brighter and darker shades on the right.

Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette
Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette

On Sephora's website this product is described as "An illuminating eye shadow palette containing four shimmering shadows inspired by Arabian romance." While the shades look a bit flat in the pan they do have quite a bit dimension when applied. The shades included are Carpet, Wonder by Wonder, Splendid, and Diamond Sky. The pigmentation over all is acceptable. There is only one shade that was a bit of a disappointment but all shades worked well together, blended easily, and staid on for at least 5 hours before i seen any sign of fading (longer if you use primer).

(After looking at Sephora's online description i do think there is a bit of a mix up since they labeled Carpet as a glittery violet (upper left) and Wonder by Wonder as a glittery lavender (upper right). Carpet is obviously a lavender while Wonder by Wonder is violet. I will refer to these shades by their right color reference.)

Carpet (upper left corner)- Is described as a glittery lavender  though i personally feel it leans more pink. This shade has a frost finish. This shade is soft but had no noticeable fallout. While described as a glitter, i did not see any glitter in this shade.
Wonder by Wonder (upper right corner)- This shade is described as a glittery violet this shade contains a bit of micro glitter. The glitter leans a bit lighter purple and i had a hard time swatching it. It is only visible in the second swatch photo with the flash on. The glitter does fall out so if you are hoping for the glitter to stay put i suggest a tacky primer and patting this shade on. Overall this shade had decent pigmentation but i wish it had been richer. It needs to be built up to become opaque.
Splendid (lower left corner)- This shade is described as a glittery peachy pink. This shade also lacks glitter but has a nice frosty finish. It is a great neutral shade to allow the brighter colors like Wonder by Wonder and Diamond Sky to really pop. This shade applied with good pigmentation and was easy to blend. It is a very soft shade that can be worn on its own or as a lid, brow bone, or inner corner of the eye shade.
Diamond Sky (lower right corner)- This shade is a deep turquoise. It is the brightest of the four and has a bit of a pearlesq finish to it. It even reflects a bit green in some light. Blends well but was so soft i had some fallout. Be careful when applying. This shade makes a great crease shade.

Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette

Jasmine Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette in Splendid, Carpet, Wonder by Wonder and Diamond Sky. With Flash

Overall i think this shimmery palette is great for a neutral look with just a pop of color. While many shades are described as glittery, there is only one shade that contains micro glitter (Wonder by Wonder). The packaging alone is quite beautiful and really a collectors piece. With overall good quality this is a very wearable palette. The price point is a bit off since for only $25 more you can purchase the entire Storybook Palette, however, these shades are not included in the Storybook Palette. If you like to wear brights and experiment with colors go with the Storybook Palette. If you like something small and compact with just a bit of bright color go with Magic Carpet Ride Eyeshadow Palette. You can find this piece at Sephora and Sephora.com. for $30 Check out my other reviews on the Jasmine Storybook Palette Vol. 2 here, Three Wishes Eyeliner Set here, and Mirror here!

Jasmine Three Wishes Eyeliner Set Review and Swatches

Sephora Disney Jasmine Three Wishes Eyeliner in Gel, Liquid, and Pencil
If you were given three wishes, what would you wish for? For many cosmeholics having perfectly flawless lined eyes everyday is something we always wish for. In the second installment of the Reigning Beauties collection by Disney for Sephora, Jasmine's Three Wishes Eyeliner set is a great way to  experiment with different types of liner and looks and makes achieving a flawless look easy!

Sephora Disney Jasmine Three Wishes Eyeliner in Gel, Liquid, and Pencil

Included in Jasmine's Three Wishes Eyeliner set is one gel liner, one pencil liner, and one liquid liner. For the gel liner an angled brush is included. Unlike Vol. 1, Cinderella, Jasmine's collection did not contain any lipsticks. Since the culture of Jasmine and Aladdin, which is set in the fictional city of Agrabah, is more of a Persian or Arab decent,  there is a lot of emphases on the eyes. If you can recall in Disney Movie Aladdin, Jasmine has very dramatically lined eyes. While i think this set goes quite well with the movie and even the culture of the characters i would have loved to see a lipstick set. It could have included a rich red matte lipstick (like the one she is wearing in the photos below), a bright orange red like when she is in her garden with Rahja, a deep chocolate brown like when she is trying to seduce Jafar, or even a medium nude! But i guess these wouldn't go well for a spring palette (even when the shadows do)

The packaging of the Jasmine Three Wishes Eyeliner Set is a bright pink fuchsia. There is a gold designed border and the side features pop's of color with bright yellow and aqua flowers. The bar code features the genie. The top of this box features the quote uttered by the genie in the cave of wonders "Have a wish, or two, or three".

The liners:
Gel Liner-
First i want to address the packaging, it is a bit deceptive. While it looks like there is quite a bit of product this packaging has a false bottom. This liner only contains 0.19 oz. which i feel is a bit lacking considering the price range. The screw off cap features a golden lamp surrounded by a golden design. The glass that the gel is in is a frosted glass. The pencil is a simple black pencil with the name "Jasmine" engraved on it's side. The brush tip itself is a thin, semi-stiff, angled white brush. I feel this brush and gel gives good precision. This product glides on without streaking and stays thick (a comfortable thick). It allows the user to get creative and have very dramatic looking eyes. This liner lasted about 9 hours on the lid. Even slight rubbing only made this liner budge slightly. Use an oil based makeup remover or makeup remover pad to get this product fully off. I found rain did not remove this liner either. While it is still wet it can be smudged to create a smokey eye look.

Liquid Liner-
The packaging of this liner is pretty basic but also beautiful. A simple black matte tube with a screw off top which houses wand. The applicator is a brush applicator and has enough strands to create a thick lined look but also small enough to allow for precision. The bottom park of this tube features a genies lamp in gold surrounded by what looks like a golden net. This is all overlapped a glossy black net design. As for the quality of this liner, well this is where this product falls short. Averaged out, this product is about $14 ($42 for the set), which, in and of itself, is not all that bad, however, this product seems to me to have the same quality of one you could find in a drugstore. I found this a little disappointing. I was hoping for something a bit more higher grade. When i applied this liner it did go on opaque and non streaky but the applicator distributed excess liquid on both sides. I tried applying it on three other occasions and had the same issue. This product took about a minuet to dry fully. Until dry this product can be smudged but will not give a smokey look like the gel liner. This liner did stay put the longest. With vigorous rubbing this product was just about completely in tact and was a bit hard to remove with makeup remover. This liner is great for a dramatic cat eye look.

Pencil Liner:
This was the only product i was somewhat disappointed in. This short, thick, pencil features a golden gate design on a matte, black, background. The cap is clear and allows you to see the pencil. When applying this product (even lightly) the tip began to crumble. Once the tip was a bit nubby i was able to get a line. While this product did not tug on the skin and was not overly soft, it was a bit hard to get a precise line on the eye. I think this pencil would have been better suited as a thinner pencil. This liner was the only liner that showed fading rather fast (4 hours), came off quickly with water and slight rubbing. One rub and the product was removed. This product was very easy to remove with makeup remover. I did not find this product to smudge well. This product would be good for quick looks that will only be on a few hours. Good for thick, bold, lining.

Quick Looks:
In the top two boxes i used Sephora Disney Jasmine Three Wishes Eyeliner in liquid liner and in the bottom picture i use the gel liner.
Sephora Disney Jasmine Three Wishes Eyeliner look

Overall i think this set of eyeliners allows you to have a beautifully packaged item regardless of your liner preference. If you are looking for a smokey or precision liner use the gel liner, if you are looking for the thin line to last all day use the liquid liner and if you are looking for the thicker, bolder line for quick looks use the pencil liner. Overall quality is great while some remind me of drugstore. Decent for the price point of $42.You can find this piece at Sephora and Sephora.com.
