MAC Archie's Girls Betty Lipsticks in Oh, Oh, Oh, Betty Bright, and Girl Next Door
The first limited edition, special packaging, collection for 2013 has landed! MAC Archie's Girls is finally here after months of waiting! This collection was separated into two sides- Betty and Veronica! Since Betty and Veronica have their own distinct styles MAC gave them two distinct color schemes! Are you the soft, pink, girl next door? Or, are you the ruthless, just a little spoiled, Veronica? Maybe a mix of both!
The next few set of posts are going to focus on the Betty side of the collection!

The packaging for MAC Archie's Girls Betty lipsticks are sleek white tubes that have the face of Betty adoringly glancing at Archie out of the corner of her eye. Hearts trail behind her. This packaging is perfect for the spring release and fit perfectly into Valentines day.

The formula of these lipsticks is the classic smooth MAC formula with soft vanilla scent that does not over power and leaves no weird taste. These lipsticks do vary in staying power and application but overall is consistent with comparable finishes in the permanent line.

Oh, Oh, Oh (Lustre)-
This lipstick is sheer, on purpose! Described as a sheer brown plum, this shade gives just a bit of color and metallic shine to the lips (without coming off as frosty). This color is great for layering over liner, or as an everyday shade. I feel like it is my lips but better. It is not meant to be opaque so the color was just a wash and lasted on my lips for about 5 hours a little less when i was eating. It did not bleed or settle into my lip creases. Non drying. Overall the coverage was pleasant.

Betty Bright (Satin)-
This shade sure is bright! This light vibrant peach is a bit comparable to Viva Glam Nicky 1 (see my swatch here) but this is a bit more peach in it while Nicki is a bit more pink, and a bit brighter. This lipstick is still soft on the lips and very girly. Opaque coverage was easy to achieve in one swipe. The satin finish allowed this lipstick to be creamy but had a semi-matte finish. I did not find this lipstick drying. Did not bleed or settle into lip creases. Lasted about 6 hours on the lips even with drinking!

Girl Next Door (Lustre)
For a lustre, this lipstick was impressive. This bright, vivid blue pink reads a little lavender on my lips. It is sheer enough to let a little of the natural color of your lips through but also gives enough coverage to be semi-opqaue. I found that this shade did not always stay put. Simply pressing my lips together left marks and sheerer areas on my lips. After an hour of wear some had settled into my creases, but i did not see bleeding outside of the lips. This shade reminded me of Beauty (Glaze) just a little bit, but this of course, offered a little more coverage. (See swatch of Beauty here )

MAC Archie's Girls Betty Lipsticks in Girl Next Door

Overall i loved the Betty packaging, i thought it was adorable. The color scheme for the lipsticks seemed on point with the sweet and girl next door nature of Betty's personality. It suited her style perfectly. I am glad that these lipsticks were in suitable finishes as well. Betty does not seem like she would wear mattes and would like lipsticks more on the girly and sheer side. The quality was perfectly on par with that of MAC's permanent line. You can pick these lipsticks up here!

  1. I want betty bright but after such extremely rude experience in the store I don't think I'll be buying from mac. Eye rolls when asking for help is not needed. I do have to say these shades are pretty.

    1. that is why i never shop in the mac stores. Some of the girls are just very nasty. I suggest buying online and while things sell out super quick on the mac site itself (though collections are released at 6am, 12pm, 6pm, 12am eastern standard time) you can usually find them on nordstrom, dillards, bloomingdales, and even macys. I hope that one experience doesn't turn you off to the brand.
