MAC To Catch A Sailor and Viva Glam Nicki Minaj Lipsticks Plus Dupes Review and Swatches

Today I got two fantastic deliveries but I'm only going to focus one. Sometimes I like to make splurge purchases and this is one of those times. Two lipsticks that i decided to splurge on are To Catch A Sailor lipstick from the Hey Sailor collection by MAC and Nicki Minaj's Viva Glam lipstick also by MAC. One is a nice frosty neutral while the other is a highly pigmented pink.

To Catch A Sailor-
This color really is a breath of fresh air to my opaque, highly pigmented, drama filled lipstick collection. Since it is a frost color you won't get the color payoff of other lipsticks but you will get a beautiful natural shimmer. The best way to describe it is a shimmery nude. It applies beautiful, doesn't need to be layered, has that classic vanilla scent, and lasts for about 4 hours. I love the packaging on this lipstick. The tube has a cute nautical/navy inspired design of white stripes on dark navy blue. The brand "MAC" in gold lettering. This lipstick will go perfect as that simple nude shimmer that compliments dramatic eye makeup.

I really wasn't impressed with the other items in the Hey Sailor collection only because they seemed so everyday and I couldn't see myself spending $15 dollars on yet another red lipstick, but for To Catch A Sailor I feel it was worth it.

Looking for a cheaper dupe of this color? Check out NK cosmetics in Honey Buff. It is the same exact color and these lipsticks have a sweet scent. The only difference between these two is this needs to be layered to achieve full color and it won't last as long on the lips as To Catch A Sailor. It is made with vitamin E so at least you know your lips will be moisturized. The price difference doesn't hurt either $1.50 vs. $14.50.

Viva Glam Nicki Minaj-
Such a beautiful pink. I was so disappointed when I wasn't able to pick up pink Friday that when I saw this was still available I nearly had an orgasm. This color is the perfect pink. It is opaque, goes on smooth, has a hint of coral in it, smells like vanilla, and the viva glam tube in black and reddish/pink is just icing on the already amazing cake. I have a feeling I will run out of this sooner than I'd like to. I feel this shade would suit most girls, maybe skip if you are very pale. This shade would go perfect with a pink and black smokey eye.

Looking for a cheaper dupe? Well look no further than your local drugstore or drugstore.com. Pinkerbell by Wet N Wild Mega Last is the same exact color in a matte formula. This lipstick lasts as long on the lips as Nicki Minaj and has the same color payoff. It retails for $2.49 which is a lot cheaper than $14.50. So if you are unsure of this color is for you, or don't want to splurge, pick up this color.
