MAC Apres Chic Lipstick Collection Review and Swatches

At the end of December two anticipated collections were released Strength and Apres Chic. While Strength had bright, bold, and fearless colors, Apres Chic was more on the neutral and wearable side - meaning more suitable for every day. Unlike Strength this collection had a range of lipstick finishes that spanned nearly all types - Frost, Matte, Amplified Creme, Cremesheen, and Satin. So regardless of your finish preference or color there was a something for everyone. These lipsticks had no special packaging, but rather, the simple black, bullet packaging. Sweet smell of vanilla with no taste. These shades had an average last time of 4 hours with the exception of Warm Companion which is a frost and only lasted 2 hours and Cozy up which lasted about 5 hours and is a matte.

Warm Companion (Frost)-
Beige with gold pearl. This shade shows lip flaws super easily so use a scrub on your lips prior to use. I would recommend filling in your lips with a beige or tan liner and then applying Warm Companion over it. I personally do not like how this shade looks on my bare lips.

Cozy Up (Matte) -
Deep Caramel. I find this shade a little lighter than described. I feel it is more of a warm beige. This shade applys very smooth and isn't drying. It is a great neutral and is universally flattering.

Haute Altitude (Amplified Creme)-
Midtone blue pink. This soft pink applys very creamy and is very pigmented. It is a very soft shade and is a good everyday pink.

Apres Chic (Cremesheen)-
Pinky brick red. For a cremesheen this shade is surprisingly pigmented. I find this shade to have undertones of both pink and orange. This shade applys very soft but is not true to the tube as it is a bit sheerer.

Hot Chocolate (Satin)-
Dirty Plum. This shade is very true to its title. A mix between brown and purple this shade is reminiscent of a cup of hot chocolate. I felt that this shade looked and felt more like a matte but was a little more hydrating on the lips.

Overall i really loved this collection. While Warm Companion isn't a color that may be easy to wear, i felt the rest were really universally flattering. I loved how these shades are very everyday with a slight twist (Hot Chocolate being a brown on the purple side, and Apres Chich having undertones of orange). I only wish that these were permanent shades.
